Why is it that most online guides suggest getting perlite or horticultural sand to add to the potting mix for better drainage? Is that a better way to do it or can I survive without that? Also, is it absolutely necessary to add the elemental sulphur? Can I spritz some vinegar+water solution instead?
@TheRipeTomatoFarms3 жыл бұрын
Because they provide better drainage? Elemental Sulphur is not required... Is it but one way to lower the pH of an alkaline soil, but only IF the soil is alkaline.

@TheRipeTomatoFarms3 жыл бұрын
Oh no, sorry to hear that Cheryl! Are you growing them in pots or in the ground? They grow quite fast and large and can become root bound very fast. At that point, they will also repel water, leading to the idea that they need a lot of water, which they don't. I move mine on to a larger size or plant in the ground, every 2 years...otherwise they outgrow their digs! :-)
