If you want to learn the basics to plastering and learn how to plaster your own walls then join The Plastering For Beginners welcome Course. It's a free plastering course ideal for anyone who wants to learn how to plaster: plasterersblueprint.clickfunnels.com/optindi1fga5l
In this video, we’re going to show you how to plaster corners. This is aimed for beginners but experienced plasterers alike because one of the hardest things in plastering is getting a perfect angle.
You can often get dips in the bead, the plaster can set with ridges or your angles never look as crisp as you’d like.
Unfortunately, one of the things that plasterers are judges on most is angles because this is often where the eye meets when looking into a room. So it’s our job to make sure we get our corners plastered perfectly.
In this video, I’ll show you the exact technique I use when plastering onto corner beads and I’ll also show you some little tips and tricks that will make the whole process a little easier. There is a certain method to follow so make sure you watch the whole video because there’s a lot to learn. I’ll also show you some different variations which are perfect for plastering for beginners.
This will defiantly help you learn how to plaster.

Hi, I have literally watched all your videos and basically learned how to plaster and being a Maintenance guy and looking after facilities fir a big transport company it’s helped me do many little jobs here and there but recently I’ve renovated a bungalow from start to finish( almost finish, still needs the bathroom fitting and house needs decorating) but I’ve managed to plaster the whole house myself, boarded out all ceilings, boarded out new stud walls, corner beads, bonded all the bad areas, skimmed the lit to a more than satisfactory finish! Thanks for the vide and tips along the way!!

Thank you very much for your videos, I end up watching them for hours at a time! Do you have a video about stopping blisters/bubbles? I'm mainly plastering on old mud walls using a French plaster called lutece 2000l. I seem to always get 1 or 2 areas where bubbles come up. If the plasters still slightly wet and I go over it, even adding plaster they still show. They seem to disappear sometimes when I'm towelling up when the plaster is dry but not always! 🥴

Alright mate, despite doing everything by the book, I still get the occasional ripple. Just did a job where I had to remove loose render back to the block above a window lintel and around the window. I used hardwall which was flattened with a speedskim and was very flat, then I two coated it with multi. Despite using the speedskim, not going over it till it was well pulled in, today when I ran my hand over it there was still a few ripples. Do you think it’s my timings? I’m very self critical and despite that every decorating job I’ve done that’s been newly plastered has bumps and lumps everywhere, I always strive for perfection!

Hi mate. It sounds like you might be putting too much plaster onto the bead (which is often what happens). Trowelling the plaster up the bead will help but make sure when your flattening that you really push the plaster into the corner besd. This should keep the angle clean and crisp. Hope this helps and that's a great suggestion. Cheers 👍

What I really would like to know is what to put on the corner (the bead) before applying any plaster. Fiber-glass tape? Steel beading (looks like very thin angle iron). Before putting any wet plaster over the dry wall I want to reinforce the corner with somthing, but I don't know what to reinforce the corners with.

You can only plaster it and inform the customer that it will probably crack. You have nothing to tie the plaster to the other wall. The only option is to caulk it when you've finished but even then it may crack. The only thing you can do is inform my friend 👍

@PlasteringForBeginners
@PlasteringForBeginners 5 жыл бұрын
Good point... All the usually plastering trowels have a very straight blade and the edges are quite course. So when it comes to finishing, the trowel will leave marks on the plaster because the edges are so rough and flat. To "break a trowel in" means changing the shape and sharpness of your trowels blade. A lot of new trowels are made broken in now but they often still need a lot of work before there perfect for finishing. Hope this clarifies things mate
@Gandalf4137
@Gandalf4137 5 жыл бұрын
Hello bearwoodcarpentry. There's a video on "how to break in a trowel" on the channel, have a look. :) Most factory edges have burrs which need to be removed. Using fine sandpaper, whetstones, etc will fix that. Basically you have to polish the leading edge of your trowel, because it's next to impossible to obtain a smooth finish with a rough edge. Rounding the corners of the trowel will prevent them from digging into your work. A lot of the pre-worn trowels are also slightly bowed. Hope this helps. :)

I am my friend. I've not had any formal education but I have worked with some amazing plasterers who have shown me the right way to do it. I've been lucky pal!

They are brilliant trowels mate but as you said, you do have to be careful with them!

How about showing a plain wall with preparation then application, you have everything already prepared here. Beginners don't know how that was done. This video shows nothing for a beginner.

I have lots of videos on my channel which show how to apply corner beads, how to prepare walls, how to plaster onto brick, how to use an undercoat plaster, how to work with plasterboard... Just have a look at my channel. I don't want to repeat content to the subscribers who watch my content every week. This tutorial was aimed for plastering onto corner beads which is exactly what I covered!
