Hope this reaches you .. I think it’s important to point out that as you move up in stakes it doesn’t mean that all the players get better . It mostly just means they have bigger bank roles . I believe most of the tighter players are playing in the lower and mid stakes . You don’t have to grind as hard or it won’t seem as hard because people with bigger bankrolls give more action more times than not

Ranges is nothing but a group of hands that someone (probably) has. Instead of thinking he has to have aces you need to think of a group of hands he could possibly have according to how the hand has played out so far and that players tendencies. Don’t overthink it cause there’s nothing to overthink. I used to not get it either just like everyone. Just think of what group of hands should be played in a certain spot unless the guy is aggro and that’s a range 🤷‍♂️ easy peasy. Kinda lol.

I had the same struggle. Eventually I realized it was logic more than anything. utg opening range is so tight because you are out of position and you want to have higher strength cards than your opponents before the flop. If you only play monsters utg you are in better shape than if you play anything and try to bluff high card flops, because it's likely that your opponents have a better starting hand than you. If you have aces and 3 bet and get 4 bet, you could assume they have KK or QQ, but you're dominating. If you 3 bet UTG with JJ and get 4 bet by someone in position, they most likely have KK QQ or AA. Obviously anyone can hit or miss the flop but at least knowing range and position gives you some information rather than just going by luck or feel.

Looking at the 3-bet range for SB when button raises to 2.2, why are K7s and K6s always 3Bets? Is it to mix up the range? If so, I'd expect to 3bet those hands some portion of the time like K9s. Also does the range change vs something like the HJ vs the button?

Hi Jonathon I have seen in other videos and on your charts online that usually you say to either three bet in the SB or fold but in this scenario you had a calling range and three bet polarized. Is it because of the 60bb stack size or is this video assuming there is an ante? The chart I usually study is the 100bb cash game.

In many scenarios it's GTO to bet big with total junk. Is that because we're unblocking the vilain's middle strength hands? On AJ9r I guess a 9 might fold, but probably all J and A continue, as well as some draws?

How would you all handle a monotone flop with same configuration as Jonathan uses (heads up OOP w/o RA like at 44:15) and you hold AsKd in the SB but flop comes Qh9h3h? Had this spot recently. Checked. Folded to a 1/2 pot size bet from a normal reg on the BTN. Nitty or the right thing to do?

I'd lead small, like 20-33%, cuz we have that Ah and Kh nut advantage and hope to just take it down there. I dont ever want to chk-call here, so ima go for it w the cbet. If I don't cbet? I feel like I'm surrendering the pot right there...Boom, you win. I 3bet pre and aired the flop, i give up. Which is fine, sometimes, but I'm going to at least try here..

Jonathan, In online micro stakes tournaments i usually get pretty far and usually have a big stack. But in cash games I do horrible...😢 I do good in Sit n Go's also but my cash game sucks. I realized that I win more against players in tournaments because i have more fold equity in some spots and i apply lots of pressure. I guess im just better in tournaments and should take advantage of that. If i can beat micro stakes tournaments online, are live $100 tournaments beatable as well? I'd assume they play the same as online micro stakes tournaments
@jeffshackleford3152
@jeffshackleford3152 5 ай бұрын
Generally the online pool is better than the live player pool. I would maybe go scout a tournament and see how they play. I only play cash games, so I wouldn't be able to tell you anything about tournaments, but 1/2 cash players are about equivalent to 5 or 10NL players online. The frustrating part about those games is the players are so passive, that you will have a hard time getting paid. They can be quite sticky and stationy though, so sometimes you can get paid. I would be willing to put a lot of money on the bet that... You would likely have an easier time convincing some of those players to allow you to pull one of their teeth with pliers than it is to get them to willingly put money in the pot.

I keep thinking about a recent 3 bet flop I was in where I was the caller of the huge 3 bet, In the BB, w A Q suited. Flop comes Q 8 4 rainbow. SB bets half pot, I call. Then he 3x pots the turn on a brick. He had pocket 8s. I called pre-flop, the flop, and then shoved for a little bit more on top of his bet on the turn. What should I have done?

I think 3x pot (depending on what exactly the game is and what types of people are playing) is either a set, AQ or a pure bluff. I think i would fold sometimes but make the call most of the times with AQ. Stack sizes and ITM considerations might make me lean more towards one or the other side, but i just started playing so please do not roast me 😅

The order of betting is Raise, reraise, 3 bet, 4 bet etc… It’s just the number in which they bet. I was confused when I first heard it too. Out of position is typically the person who is betting first. For example if you have the dealer chip you will typically be in position cause you bet later than most players.
