You are welcome, Sandra. May I ask what you meant by "accident"? It would help be better position this channel's content. Thank you in advance.

Hi Jonathan, Like this cello scale, need your advise. I absolutely have no music background, so should I start by memorize the scale first? As I have no Cello for now. As I am a left hander so I have to bow using my non master hand. Does a left hander pose more difficulties for learning cello? Do you have student that are left hander that have successfully learn the cello?

Hi, I have a kind of a stupid question. How comes that the scale seems different for cello than for i.e. piano? For example, D major starts here on a note that I would call H (or B) and G major starts on a note E. Why is it so different?
@guitarislife01
@guitarislife01 4 жыл бұрын
It looks like your practicing the minor scales over there. H minor and G major use the same notes. Same thing with E minor and G major. All seven notes in a major scale can theoretically be a starting point, and they have names: Ionian (major), Dorian, Phrygian, Lydian, Mixolydian, Aolean (minor), Locrean (theoretical). kzbin.info/www/bejne/aGa0Z2uIn9x_mqc Listen to Friedrich Kuhlau's Sonatine Op.20-1 1st Mov. and hear the difference in sound he was able to achieve by switching from major to minor at 21 seconds into the video. There were other factors at play, such as the use of triplets, maintaining the root note, playing louder, and perfect octaves in the bass line. But he just wouldn't have been able to produce such an incredible difference without first playing in major, then springing into minor. The point is, learn both! You'll use them.

It's likely that you're reading the music as treble clef, this is the bass clef (the bottom one in piano music), so the notes are different to what you're used to. The scales still start on the same note, it's just in a different place.

All cello players make this mistake NO ONE actually tell you which distance is the first note,, they just placed their fingers expecting for viewer to know, basically without you explaining the distance u place your first finger, i cannot ever proceed...
