I was literally just thinking about finding a way to add a Dragoon-type character into my campaign, so this was perfect timing!

"Fall bad" _takes 49d6 fall damage_

Technically speaking, you could use the Tasha's rule of falling on a foe to divide the fall damage between both targets evenly and then attack, but you'd need a method of mitigating the damage you yourself would wake.

Funny, tried a dragoon build in bg3. The jump option in bg3 is very nice for a drg build

Been wanting something like this forever.

When raiding a vampire lair, a Dragonborn Barbarian-Cleric used Etherealness to walk 50ft above the vampire and upon returning to the material plane, fall on them a la Sephiroth-Aerith with a greatsword, adding his calculated fall damage to the sword attack. Almost wasn't successful due to the Kenku Bardlock didn't cast Maddening Darkness.

I like this, but I feel it’s got quite a bit going on. I’m personally a fan of the celestial lancer that was printed by mage hand press. Definitely caught my attention tho.

Let's be real, ff14 made dragoon white bread to normies. Dragoon has been around since ff2,3,4,5,6 ect. The skill is "jump" been around longer than most watching this have been alive. In d&d rules, using that kind of jump would require some school of magic. No amount of squats will make you jump like that. Bc the stronger you get, the more you weigh.

i definitely understand that. I think there are a lot of ways to approach many ideas, and someone with the same premise can build something completely different and i think thats the great part about homebrew and creativity.

Realized I never commented on this one. Oops. I have a few players that like the fantasy dragoon so they'll appreciate having this as an option.

Question: why does everyone want to play a 5e when other, more fitting systems exist? I perused your "building X Naruto character in D&D." Here's how it can be done way easier: play Naruto 5e. Want to play Pokemon in D&D? There are 2-3 other systems that you can use that function better. A cyberpunk setting? There are 2 with different editions: Shadowrun (if you want a fantasy taste) and Cyberpunk (for traditional). Seriously, why are you trying to cram everything into a single system that won't fit?
@gamemastersdomain5 ай бұрын
The main reason is pretty simple, not everyone has time to learn a new system, let alone get their group to agree to said new system. I know 5e well, so that is what I am most comfortable building things in, sure I could go play shadow run or pathfinder if I had the time to do so, but I don't. And it's not like we do this to say "hey don't play that other system, only play 5E!" Play what you want, and I want to play and make stuff for 5e.
