I'm musically challenged. Do you mean the Am should be an F# before the G in the chorus? Cause that sounds totally off to me. But again, idk anything

What is the riff around C @ 4:30? Where he says Jerry liked to "flutter around"? I'm loving the videos, and I'd love to know more about some of the riffs and fills.

You are entertaining as %^& (seem like the kind of dude my friends and I would have hung out with at Shoreline back in the day). *do have a question. For those of us oldies who are just learning (i.e. low level intermediate). How can we know what chords you are using? I know you are using a G voicing that isn't the full G barre but I've no idea what it is. Those chords that are easy to see your hands make sense; for example the A shape barres and the full barre G but the others are a mystery. Thanks

Awesome man trying to spread the word I think you would get more traction if you had a channel called “Playin Dead” instead of the bro channel nothing wrong with that but you are in the pocket And as shitty as the world is today there is nothing finer than some grateful fucking dead seems like more people lately are picking up on that which just goes to prove the music now is finally after a while being used what it was for in the first place to feel free...Someday please do Scarlett Begonia’s I can play it but I know you’ll do it better ha ha
@TobyDavvy4 жыл бұрын
Family is everything. You know that, homie. There is a "Play Dead" playlist that you can share if thats easier for you. Should I teach Scarlet Begonias and Fire on the Mountain in the same episode? Or do them separately?
@usernameinvalid26754 жыл бұрын
Toby & Davvy I’m so sorry for the late reply🙏💥Yes I love Scarlet/Fire together I can play it but truth be told you have something I don’t because I learn from your songs and you are a badass teacher I miss stuff(ametuer) (25 years😂) Hope when winter gets here I can spend more time on here life is crazy for me right now but yes would love Scarlet/Fire and some insight on the time sigs and little things to make it more fun to play you got the goods bro for real takes a lot to impress this should be the definitive Dead learning channel The world needs the Dead now more than ever thanks

How do you ‘roll’ into that C barr or the Run up without 8” fingers? my 3rd (guitar finger) doesn’t seem to be able to get the G and B down. Also any tips on strumming pattern
@TobyDavvy3 жыл бұрын
Try doing the Jerry thing and use your pinky to do the barring. And as far as strumming goes, watch closely and try to imitate. Monkey see monkey do. Strumming is tricky. It has everything to do with your perception of rhythm.

Did you edit out your solo? I like how you don’t sound just like Jerry, but you have your own sound, but you still throw in chromatic runs like Jerry but don’t go for mimicking him at all...you have a more edgy and modern style to your playing...how did you get all this under your belt so young...you must have really geeked out on the shit in high school lol?
@TobyDavvy4 жыл бұрын
This one was before I started putting in solo examples. But just try to follow the chords. That’s what Jerry did. And yeah, I started listening to the Dead when I was in High School and starting to experiment with psychedelics. I then dropped out of high school to hitchhike around the country and played music on the street and since then I’ve been in a few jam bands and several Dead centered projects. So I’ve had a lot of intimate time with this music. And I really appreciate what you said about my style. I think of myself kind of like an amalgamation if Jerry and Trey from Phish with definitely more influence from Jerry.
@viral2623 жыл бұрын
