How to Play - Carrooka

Carrooka is a handmade dexterity game from England. Think Crokinole meets Carrom meets Snooker, and you have Carrooka. It's on my shelf, well actually wall, but what are my actual thoughts of the game?

Finally ordered a Carrooka board (same as yours.) We've loved our Canadian Crokinole board for many, many years, but still looking forward to this.

They are such a good complimen to each other. My Crokinole board is sadly gathering dust as Carrooka is getting all the love right now, but one day we’ll get back to it. Carrooka is just so dang fun.

I've managed to put off buying this game for a couple of years and this video is certainly weakening my resolve. I really want to try this game, but at almost $400 (with shipping, wall mount, and pool token set which I'd definitely want) I'm not ready yet. Yet being the operative word, great video!

Holy moly, it means a ton that you commented, I've been watching your videos forever!! Def wait until you are ready, because it is an investment for sure. For me, as I mention in the video, it was worth it because it gets so much play compared to other big games I buy that barely get played, plus it just looks nice on the wall! But it was also something I saved up for, putting a little aside for a couple years before I pulled the trigger. Thanks for the kind words, and can't wait to see what all that you present on your channel in 2024!

Yeah the UK is expensive to buy from for everyone. In EU it's also like $50+ shipping and then around 20% VAT I think. But (decent quality) Crokinole is constantly sold out.

Surprised you didn't get the extra set of yellow pucks and play UK pool on your carrooka board.

What is the difference between US and UK pool? I didn’t want the US pool set because I can just find a table at a bar or at a friend’s house and play if I want. But if I realized UK pool was a thing I very well may have bought the extra set of pucks.

@@The.FrozenGamer Pretty sure it's just the ball colour. In US you get the strips and dots with numbers on, in the UK it's just red and yellow to easily differentiate the balls. You can get Carrooka spots and strip pool pucks, but you can buy 6 yellow pucks on their own. The reason I mentioned UK pool is because you have the snooker carrooka which gives you the red balls, and 1 yellow. So buying the extra yellows, allows you to turn the snooker into UK pool, by just setting up 7 yellow and 7 red with the black puck. Instant UK pool. :) The table will be larger than the smaller carrooka pool table, but it saves you buying the smaller table solely for pool & adds another dimension to the carrooka board if you just want to play pool. There's no difference in shipping on the US pucks but I thought since you have the UK Snooker, polish it off with UK pool pucks. :)

Good question. They provided a little Carrom powder with the purchase. “All powders are widely available to purchase online, you can try searching for “Carrom Powder” “Gliss Powder” or “Crokinole Wax Powder” and you’ll find a large selection to purchase. It may be a bit of trial and error before you find the one that suits your playing style the best.” -From Carrooka website. They have a whole section about Carrom powder there.
