How to play Cavaliers 1992 Drum Solo

Dude, found this and your channel last night. I marched snare in DCI in the 90's and I was always curious about the sticking parts for this. Thank you for posting!

Man, this was the year for me. I was a freshman in HS and went to see DCI for the first time at Vanderbilt Stadium in Nashville, TN (DCI South). I knew Bobby Hullett from Star so I went in kind of rooting for them (he was one of the best drum majors I'd ever seen), but when The Cavaliers took the field, I was so blown away. The whole stadium was too, so the atmosphere was thick, and being a drummer myself, they just stole my heart, man. Obviously the drum feature was total ear candy, but by the time they climaxed at the end, drums to the freaking press box, I was on my feet and about ready to jump out of my own skin! It was, without a doubt, a life changing experience, and I've rooted for The Green Machine ever since. We were lucky enough to get Mike Robertson (2nd snare from the right in the '92 lot video) to come help teach our HS snareline the next year, and let me tell you, the work ethic they bring rubs off on you for life. So grateful. Awesome job on this video, man! Started working on it today! Many thanks!

That era was so incredible. I first heard of drum corps from a Modern Drummer magazine article. I *think* that was you 87 guys in there? (I marched Freelancers 92-94, Blue Devils 96). Those late 80's / early 90's shows were the definition of drum corps to me. Perfection!!!

Totally. Things weren't over the top crazy so it was possible to play crystal clean. Tempos were slower. Stuff grooved. The Cavaliers stuff of this era was phenomenal, super tasty!!!

Man I'm finally able to play this through tonight at speed! I've been wanting to learn this since 92. This is my ultimate favorite break! I put down the sticks many moons ago and recently picked them back up. Thank you for putting this content out. Never marched Corps cause I couldn't afford it and didn't think I had the chops but learning this makes me wish I did. Took about a week to learn.

i got a v3 dark matter fror Christmas and waow its amazing im curious how the feel is compared to a regular v3 and the ones with the laminate and it would be cool if offworld made laminates with out sticking on the little circle thing just make a regular carbon fiber pad with a plastic laminate

Tip of the hat to you for picking something from Jim Campbell. Hard to believe you skipped over their most famous drum feature from 89. (It was so good they repeated it again the next year!) Those were they days to be a Cavie! The superior leadership they had back in those days and relentless commitment to excellence at any cost gave Cavies the rep that they have today.
