would be cool if Logic could analyse what you played live, and would be fun to improvise if all sessionplayers could follow you real time
@SvenTydemanMusic6 ай бұрын
100% agree! 👍🏻 that would be gold! Are you enjoying the update?
@fisch7236 ай бұрын
That would be awesome but I’d settle for analyzing what I played and create the chord chart all at once. It already recognizes the chords it should be trivial to eliminate the many steps to get them into the chord chart. But great start.

Thanks for this video, I just was looking for a way of creating Chords from MIDI. I found an even easier and much faster way of doing it. 🔥 You can use play and during the playback hit the TAB key, so it jumps to the next bar/chord and creates the next Chord in real time. You have to click just a bit before the next bar starts, then in takes the last chord for the right bar.

Thanks so much for the comment and compliment! I hear you with the TAB feature that definitely speeds things up :) I did a video including this on how to play in chords in real time! Happy producing :)

This technique is a game changing workaround - thank you. We can now import chords via midi and rapidly create chord track entries, and then AI arrangements. 🎉 However not sure what enabling “Internal MIDI In” of the track to itself is doing because that is usually used to suck in and record midi notes from another track, and here we are routing midi notes from the same track to itself - a bit mind bending - but necessary for this workaround trick to work.
@SvenTydemanMusic6 ай бұрын
Hi LEGEND! I am so glad it helped 👍🏻🙏🏻 I’m not sure either why “internal midi in” needs to be enabled. Thank you for watching and for your feedback.

Very nice tips. Hopefully in a future update, we can just right click "add to chord track" But for now, super cool

@@SvenTydemanMusic I started my recording adventure bouncing tracks on reel to reel back in the 70s so anything that comes along is amazing to me. You couldn't have imagined what we have now back then.....I think some people don't realise how lucky we are now.

If you make the chord regions in advance, then it is enough to play the MIDI and with a simple click, the chord region is always overwritten with the current harmony you click on.

Instead of putting your track's chords manually you can set the session player to follow the chords of your track just by clicking the button in there and choosing the track to follow.
@SvenTydemanMusic5 күн бұрын
Hi Dan - so sorry, I'm not sure what you mean? Where abouts are you refering to in the video? Love to check out what you're saying. Warmest

Hi Sven! In Logic Pro X 11, the Session Player's pianist can follow the rhythm of the chords on a specified track and also generate notes within those chords. This means the pianist not only adapts to the rhythm but also creates musical phrases that match the chords you have indicated. If you haven't specified chords on the designated chord track but have provided a track with notes and chords for the pianist to follow in terms of rhythm, the pianist will use the tonic chord of the project's key to generate notes. It seems I rushed and thought that the Session Player in Logic could follow the chords of the specified track and adjust them to the chords of the selected track, like Cubase does. But yet it is not so. Greetings!

Too time investing system imho. What logic needs now is a chord recognition from midi or audio regions.

by all respect. this whole handling is not acceptable. In other DAW's you just drag and drop your midi file onto the cord track and it's done. this new feature in Logic is going to need strong improvements. Look at Cubase or Studio One. There you see how this supposed to work. ;-)

Awesome! I got this far too. But it’s still very tedious. Apple needs to update it to have a mode that saves the midi chord changes as chord chart.. without having to manually pencil in!!! But this is still incredible nonetheless !!!! Great video

Hi - I completely hear you it would be a real time saver if they incorporate that with an update :)

I am amazed that you couldn't just drag the recorded MIDI track directly into the chord track, the notes are all there, shouldn't be any harder to read the intended chords than doing it one by one. The way you explained it makes it basically useless for me. I just pencil them in directly, that would take me almost no time at all.
@SvenTydemanMusic6 ай бұрын
There may be other ways, but I don’t think you can drag and drop into the chord track editor. This is definitely useful for those that don’t know the notes in the chords :) it’s good you good a workaround!! 👍🏻👍🏻
