I like that she pays so much attention to sound quality, this is very current and is important for the classical genre. (However, of course, if you play flamenco, rounded and mellow tone is usually not the first thing you want - so this is not a general rule). I'd say, make your tone appropriate to the material you're playing - and Carlotta makes a very good example of how to do it.

I find how artists prepare physically/mentally to practice and play ......the insight and reasoning behind it all......just utterly fascinating and informative. It's that kind of "behind the scene" sharing that can just enhance one's own musical journey and understanding to unthought of heights and depth. Loved her explanation of her search/desire for the right and full sound. My only wish is that she'd have talked and played for 7 hours and 20 minutes. Sorry....probably a somewhat typical American male here....women with foreign accents.....kinda send me over the rainbow. Please have her back to play more soon. She's obviously an awesome artist.

I have been practicing on and off, I enjoy learning arpeggio only, I was given a classical guitar by accident and luck from a cousin who went to a famous town in Mexico where they dedicate their art to making guitars, and I was planning on buying one though. Any how i do try to follow classical guitar playing etiquette as far as posture and hand positioning, well here i am for all my fellow learner's, just sharing my experience cheers.

I worked in a musical instruments store for a while in Mexico City and a lot of gringos went asking for Chinese, cheap and ugly guitars with Coco stickers. It made me so angry because the beautiful Mexican made guitars were right there but they didn't want an authentic experience, just a cheap and fetishized idea

Carlotta, you are a wonderful player and it is great that you are offering this useful lesson. Please, next time, don't let them play music behind your voice. I find it disrespectful of you and of the "guitar noise" in the background. I worked in radio, years ago, and learned quickly from folks wiser than me, that a 'musical bed' is just distracting and reduces the value of a program. You are smart and articulate and a fine musician. Don't let them spoil your good work with cheap guitar noise behind your fine voice.

I don't really understand the meaning it intention of this video, is it supposed to replace an actual teacher? What's it actually for?? She seems like a good person which is great but she didn't even play...
@marcosafonsodias70894 жыл бұрын
Hi Brian, It is a teaching video, so not a performance.. In this video Carlotta mentions some of the finer aspects of guitar playing that often go unnoticed and may take a long time to discover, learn and improve. These are aspects that make, as she highlights, a huge difference in the quality of the actual playing/performance. It does seem like a lesson aimed at intermediate to advanced players - since beguinners will be struggling and working on more basic issues relates to playing, such as sight reading/ tempo etc I hope this helped; ) Regards M
