So the game tells you if you are gonna lie or speak the truth. Seems like a rather bad gimmick in my opinion. Whole point of bluffing games is that telling a lie is risky but more flexible so you have to make a choice. Here that choice is gone.
@gulgaffel2 жыл бұрын
@@ConnorJC3 is it worth it though, it still seems like a weird gimmick. And there are other games similar to clue which is just way better and doesn't need a buffing gimmick to become fun.
@MrRyanroberson12 жыл бұрын
solution to the gimmick: instead of separate cards, all the cards have one truth and two lies. the lies will be more advantageous, and the card's condition includes a different resolution depending on whether you told the truth or a lie

I'm just going to say that there are two things I don't like so much about this game: 1. When you accuse, you should directly ask one player rather than going around in a circle. This means that it allows for a greater amount of strategy within the game 2. This game doesn't need a board. All the crucial components are the cards, everything else is just something extra that makes the game harder to carry, and adds more random luck. This isn't a problem with the video, and it is coming from someone who plays a lot of strategy games, so maybe other people would enjoy this more than what I am suggesting, but this is how I would have it.
@gulgaffel2 жыл бұрын
About 2, I think you are supposed to be in the room where you claim the murder happened, so you have to move around a bit. Clue in general is a rather bad game. Same with monopoly and many of Hasbro games, they just happen to have become popular by being old. And Hasbro is just pumping new variants of those games without really fixing the gameplay.
@alexvergis10172 жыл бұрын
@@gulgaffel I agree a lot with this... but I think there are ways you can make Clue and Monopoly better (namely making them rely more on unique strategies and making the games shorter). But at some point I guess you have to accept that we can't fix the problem and move onto different games I guess...
@hamizannaruto2 жыл бұрын
There is one game that is similar to clue but each player has their own murder they need to solve. There is no bluffing in the game, but you can choose who you wanna ask. There is also no board. The game is called 13 clues. i recently play it in boardgamearena. The game is set in a such a way that you have 13 clues you need to eliminate, since all other card can be seen directly.

Yeah true lol. Few years back, when i was a kid i remade this game. Just need some paper, pencil, and bunch of hand drawn cards. It works well, and quite surprise that i dont even need a board to play.

clue also reminds me of a game i saw recently, where each player are assigned to do stuff, and after each round you have to accuse someone of being a murderer by deducing each other's actions or something i forgot the name, i think it was called amogus or something similar

This is exactly what I'm thinking. I suspect you need to move the character piece you are suggesting did it and the weapon, to the room YOUR character is in after moving either using the die, or by using the secret passage.

You need to be in the room to make a suggestion. If you want to suggest the murder happened in the kitchen, you need to be in the kitchen. Accusations are different. An accusation is only made when you believe you have the right answer. You don't need to be in the same room, but if you're wrong, it's game over. At that point, all you can do is show the evidence cards from your hand to other players.

The rules state “you don’t have to be in the room you’re going to name” I’m not sure whether this is a typo or not? If this is so, then you’ve basically nullified any reason for any player to move during the whole game. The original Clud you had to move to a room that you believed the murder took place in . which added an extra dimension to the gameplay. If you eliminate that, then nobody needs to move and the board is irrelevant. And each player just takes turns making their , accusation of who they believe committed the murder, with what and where. That makes no sense. I plan to play this game, therefore with the original Cluedo rules - which makes much more sense
