Written in India after Mia Farrow's sister Prudence, who was a Transcendental Meditation teacher who rarely wasn't meditating. In a Rolling Stone interview, in 2015 she commented the song "embodies the the spirit of the 60's". I bet it must of annoyed her as well, but she wouldn't say anything negative.❤

Thanks for providing a good history lesson for everyone. I considered mentioning some background information, but a lot of viewers tend to click off when you go into such details. I believe it was Donovan who introduced the picking pattern to him at that time, but I'd have to check if that's accurate.

I have followed you for years. Your Blueberry Hill is now one of my standards. I’ve been a Patrion (spelling?) supporter and will do so again. Your voice has developed BEAUTIFULLY since I first found you. WOW - great lesson as usual AND great performance. I am excited to see you nearing 1MM fans - well-deserved!

Beautiful! Makes me want to learn it. I used to hear The Jerry Garcia Band play this back in the 70’s. Maybe you could do a lesson on this song the way Jerry played. Or any song of Jerry’s would make a nice lesson. Stay Alive. Love your energy my brother.

Another fantastic lesson, I'm about to start on it. Just wondered though if we are in D major, shouldn't the key signature be C sharp and F sharp.

Yes, you’re right, I must have forgotten to edit the key in guitar pro, apologies.

The second verse chord should be 0 3 0 2 3 2 not 0 3 0 0 3 2.
@karlheinzfreire716210 ай бұрын
True. It's the D Major chord (done with bar with index finger and ring finger) plus the C on the A string, which should be pressed with the middle finger. And it's a big technical difference, at least for me.
@marcusphelan5710 ай бұрын
@@karlheinzfreire7162 it’s easiest just using the pinky: kzbin.info/www/bejne/m3OYYn2Zncqqesksi=8z7_OI_WxH04zhzF
@Daberney9 ай бұрын
@@karlheinzfreire7162 Actually, it's not necessary to bar the D chord: Play it normally, with your first 3 fingers, and use your little finger to fret the C on the A string. When you go on to fret the B, then Bb, again on the A string, the G string is open.

If you're still getting down your basic chords and strumming patterns, there are a bunch of songs I would recommend before this one. But that's not to say you can have some fun, experiment with some of these techniques and pickup a few new chords. This tune is a great choice for those approaching the intermediate level, but I'll tell you, after years of teaching I realized you can't put limits on students... when someone really commits, they often are able to learn things that one would think are beyond their experience level.
