Francesca. THIS!!! Was so helpful. I am the keyboardist/singer for a classic rock band across the pond in Lexington (Very English) Kentucky. I was playing 1-3-5 chords throughout. So I watched the lesson for the right hand, and the song came to life!! Thank you so much for breaking it down for us lesser keyboard warriors! Subscribed and a lifelong fan.

Just a small town girl Livin' in a lonely world She took the midnight train going anywhere Just a city boy Born and raised in South Detroit He took the midnight train going anywhere A singer in a smokey room A smell of wine and cheap perfume For a smile they can share the night It goes on and on and on and on Strangers waitin' Up and down the boulevard Their shadows searchin' in the night Streetlights, people Livin' just to find emotion Hidin', somewhere in the night Workin' hard to get my fill Everybody wants a thrill Payin' anything to roll the dice Just one more time Some'll win, some will lose Some are born to sing the blues Whoa, the movie never ends It goes on and on and on and on Strangers waitin' Up and down the boulevard Their shadows searchin' in the night Streetlights, people Livin' just to find emotion Hidin', somewhere in the night Don't stop believin' Hold on to that feelin' Streetlights, people Don't stop believin' Hold on Streetlights, people Don't stop believin' Hold on to that feelin' Streetlights, people

Would you please do a full run-through/cover at the end so we can just enjoy you playing it once over too? 🙏💕
@BitesizePiano4 жыл бұрын
I decided not to as it's VERY repetitious with it only being made up of 2 sections, so didn't feel that a full play-through was necessary. I do do this in many of my other tutorials though. Also I'm not a covers channel, it's all about piano education here!
@misericordiasdomini7782 Жыл бұрын
If you would like to reach the wider audience…pls do the cover, too it’s still piano education, why not? We appreciate … but no pressures, Francesca!

She is omitting the D sharp in the right hand. There are four chords in the verse. She should simply do another video and change it to the correct piece.
@BitesizePiano2 жыл бұрын
It’s not a piece it’s a song. I figured this out from memory and obviously misremembered a small change. Probs won’t remake it for such a small human error 👍🏻

For what it's worth, if you're in a band, you could not play the octaves on the left hand; on the live videos you can clearly see the bass player is doubling the bass line with the piano!!! OR if you're on an electronic keyboard/synth, just have the same tone going on twice at one octave apart. Heck, if you're by yourself, add the bass guitar to the lower note with a split and you'll be amazed! Yeah, I'm lazy.
@acoustic613 жыл бұрын
Everyone plays this differently!
@Tom_Vince3 жыл бұрын
Its not that I dislike the video its just that it is not the written version by journey. There are four chords in the verses being used not three. What point would an E major key be if we never use the D sharp in our right hand?
@BitesizePiano3 жыл бұрын
I missed out the D# by mistake, I'm already aware...whoops! My fault for thinking I already knew how it went from my 'memory' of it ;)

Hi there Miss Bitesize. Your piano tutorial was very good. But Jonathan only plays piano until the lyrics 'for a smile they can share the night, it goes on and on etc...' then there is a string part. Yes it is the same chords from the same chord progressions. But Jonathan is only playing intervals on some of that. I mean just two notes, not even a triad. It is a bit deceiving to me. The string patch is what I would really like to have demonstrated. Thanks anyway. Be Well. Danny
