It can be a bit frustrating at first, but the first time you get it and find that sweet spot, it will be surprising how easy it really is. Also for me a key part of the technique was the way you raise off the pedal from your toes, you want it to be one smooth motion, but then when you finally do figure it out, it can be tricky at first getting used to that motion and playing some grooves and fills. It took me awhile to get this technique with shoes on after learning in socks.

I play it like this and then I saw the opposite method, toe to heel, which is possible but feels weird. If you float your heel slightly you can play triplets as well using heel to toe. It's all just practice getting your muscles used to it as it does tire you out until the motion is programmed in.

Playing doubles and finally figuring it out, some might say it's cause you made a deal with the devil, but I say realizing how to play doubles on a single is like being one step closer to god. However people might view it, being the center of attention when playing should never be viewed as a bad thing, if attracting attention or drawing attention to yourself is a bad thing then God would have never blessed people with the ability to sing. And we all know singers always get the praise and attention. SO WHEN IT COMES TO MAKING MUSIC, IT'S ALWAYS A GOOD THING. Even if the attention does get focused on you, don't let anybody tell you that it's a bad thing. Thinking it's a bad thing is the only bad thing about that whole idea. There's no such thing as bad attention, but there is such a thing as bad intentions. So whatever you do is being done with good intention, you will always get good attention.
