The sweet spot is the area or position on the footboard where the foot feels most neutral for that particular technique. The pedal and set-up along with different techniques will determine where the sweet spots is. Remember no one technique is better than another. The trick is to learn many techniques and determine which of those work best for you and your drumming.

Some drummers have been showing me the slide technique, which you mentioned at the beginning. They mostly describe the sweet spot further up the pedal then slide forward. How do you come up with your sweet spot and why you think this technique is better?...thanks!

Another very important point is that the beater is very low so that you have much more bounce. So lower your beater as much as you can

Watched this on play speed 0.25. Since I can't see the beater head, looks like the sound of the first stroke is coming when the foot is going up which is very confusing. How can the beater make a hit when the foot is going up?
@johnmackenzie32464 жыл бұрын
Because of the knee action!
@brehoffm3 жыл бұрын
He explains it at @2:45, his leg/foot is coming down the entire time. Midway down he hits with his ankle/toe, then he locks his foot to get the second hit.

Awesome lesson of a bit of your knowledge for the class! Add to that your experience, skill & talents, with a developed technique and unique intricacy. Soon a student of yours will be teaching! THIS comment is to compliment your selflessness and share, iterate my respect of your gifts and to make a slight suggestion, I hated this word "constructive" & "critism"! It's not that at all! It is in an area that I can teach class about. Can you record these in 44Khz/16bit or at 96Khz/24bit, in Stereo (Dolby or DTS), recorded at a Volume Unit (VU), input level @ -4db to -12db, & at an output level of -1.3db to -6db (VU), well MAYBE this can be maxxed at 0db for teaching, NEVER for production tho! YOU ROCK! scratch that!! YOU METAL!!!

I need to get out of the habit of doing it backward … Basically heel first toes up then toes down kinda combining two techniques (eg. Gravity leg vs ankle joint movement ) not the best if you don’t want them to have different tones on each beat TBH… I’m using an Alesis E kit

Для барабанщиков, которые хотят чётко ухватить технику работы стопы на педали, надо внимательно посмотреть на работу перкуссионистов работающих на конгах. Технику работы кистей рук надо перенести на стопы. И вам цены не будет.
