I still remember calling a good friend when I first started playing and asking how I was supposed to get my right foot to play at a different time than my hands. "One note at a time" he said. Best of luck to you!

I love this beat! Excellent video, excellent drumming! I want to work on this beat.

Thanks, that was cool. I put the left foot to play the 3-2 clave, and right foot to play tumbao and the right hand to play cascara. Comp with left hand.

To everyone thinking he's play a 2-3 clave, its because it's a 3-2 rumba clave and not a 3-2 son clave like what everyone is used to hearing and knows. Rumba clave is on the 1, the "and of 2", and the "and of 4" in 4/4.

The clave is 3-2, that´s right, it sounds different cause it's rumba clave, not son clave, therefor it could confuse some people making them think it´s 2-3 clave. Although you should practice more the accents of the cascara pattern cause some of them are wrong. Good luck!

Why the fuck is everyone saying this is 2-3? The first bar, the clave is played on beats 1, the AND of two, and the AND of 4 (3 beats played in one bar). In the second bar he is playing on beats 2 and 3 (2 beats played in one bar). He is playing a 3-2 rhumba clave... The rhythm he is playing on the bass is called the Tumbao and is on the AND of two and beat 4 in every bar.

sounds like 2-3 clave on the snare, cascara on the hats and just a repeating rumba on the kick. It's across two bars. This is a nice demo, but more explanation of terms would be great. thanks mate.

It's the 3-2 *RUMBA* clave. There's a difference between a normal 3-2 clave and a 3-2 Rumba clave. In the *RUMBA* clave the 3rd beat is pushed back by an 8th rest (and of four), giving it more anticipation and drive. Edit: realizing now that it's a troll, lol.

Am I the only one that notices the strange hand technique at the beginning? There doesn't seem to be a gap between his thumb and index finger, and there probably should be. Am I wrong?

If you count it like a 4/4 You kik on the "second and" of one, it could help - also the clave you play is 2-3 not 3-2

Fail this is 2-3 not 3-2 ... listen to the first half of the phrase being played you're playing 2 hits of the clave then answer on the 3 side with 3 hits. then 2 hits. change the title of the video to 2-3
@Nuhuhuhuhu7 жыл бұрын
This is all in all pretty fake and stupid... How about some notations or maybe at least explain where the Hi-Hat beats fall instead of going full tempo instantly "Tchs tchs-tchs.." I don't know! If he told where the single and double strokes fell, I could do it without the video, just do it slow and know it's right, and then build speed, like a real drummer that actually know theory, instead of this kinda being able to play something close to and even being wrong on what it is, embarrassing to pretend to be a drum school and failing!
@muzician77 жыл бұрын
aadrum77 You know your claves? There’s the rumba clave and the son clave. The third hit on the ‘3’ of the 3-2 pattern sounds like it’s part of the ‘2’ because it’s more delayed when it’s a rumba clave. He’s right it’s a 3-2 but it’s a rumba clave and that’s why it sounds like that.
