❤❤❤ YOUR WISDOM & ENTHUSIASM paired with your humility to show us that even a MASTER like yourself makes mistakes in playing....99.9% of much much less talented performers will never dare to do so...THANK YOU ROBERTO for your INSPIRATION !!!!!

Getting to see first hand what a professional does when they come up against a challenge in their playing is inspiring. You RARELY get to see that in videos of even Tiffany Poon. Thank you for showing us your humanity, it’s why I subscribe.

Great video Robert ! Such an important topic and you demonstrate it with clarity. I always love your enthusiasm too ! To me, playing without feeling robs the music of its musicality. A good example are many beginners whose songs have a robotic feel. Listening to top notch pianists and trying to emulate them has always been very helpful for me to grow beyond just playing the notes. And like any other aspect of playing, it takes time for the fingers to be able to do what the mind wants to accomplish. I can't help thinking when I watch your enthusiastic videos, how proud your father would be seeing you spread the joy of playing the piano. Great job !

This was a very good lesson, thanks. Expressive playing is all about the body and heart and melody in your head.

My teacher pointed out that when I'm playing jazz (or my own music) I play expressively, but when I play 'classical' music I'm more dogmatic. That expressiveness is the main aspect I'm working towards. Thsnks, Maestro.

Can anybody tell me what piece was played at 11:39, please? I heard "Chopin scherzo in b minor" but my Google search results didn't sound like right

It's the middle section of the piece.

This is beyond my pay scale, but I need to start somewhere. I'm not a musician but took up the piano at 65 yoa, like my Mother. I didn't understand why you stopped, and my respect for you increased tremendously since you didn't edit it out. What happened, Robert? I spent my lifetime treating people for aches and pains, and learned how to evaluate people using kinesiological testing. I often found problems with people that suffered from instability, and found ways to stabilize structures. And I had a speciality with shoulder and arm problems. Which seems to be a major concern with pianists, n'est-ce pas?

I think he just made a mistake like all of us do when playing/practicing the piano. What made it look like something unusual might have happened is that he didn't edit it out like everyone else on KZbin. Bravo for that !

This is all new to me. Struggling to hear the differences that you're trying to illustrate.

If you have decent speakers or headphones to listen back on, the subtleties of expression may be more apparent to you.
