The main drawback of the new version is the size is smaller. They should have added the expansions directly on to the main gameboard to make it bigger like the OG version. Would have been the best of both worlds

I just found out about this game, thankfully it's still available for around MSRP brand new. So glad I found it in time! For whatever reason I'm kinda getting into board games now. I have a mint in box MB Hotels and I see they are remaking some of my favorites like Mall Madness and Fireball Island. Better brand new than buying a used copy one ebay for like $100 or more!

We played four people and we found that people were not on the main island rolling marbles for nothing. I found that spider springs works better than cutlass....

Hey Norm good to see you're back up & running. I'd like to see you and Matt play with all of this is you ever get together for a game night again. I got the Kickstarter but have everything except Crimson Cutlass (might get it in the future) and spider springs. I like the mechanisms but not spider eggs lol I always play with Treasure Trove. I houserule some things. Like flick the tiger up to 3 times but you take the max treasure if you hit the first time or one less the second and none the third. your setup does make it look like it would take up a real island!

I have the base game and the crouching tiger, hidden bees expansion (i don't think anyone has ever made a tiger shot!) and am looking to get more expansions. I was wondering if I purchased 2 last adventurer expansions, would it be possible to increase the total players to 6? Thanks!

No don’t buy two Last Adventures packs, just get one. You’ll be getting more green marbles and snake bits that you can’t use. The additional cards won’t hurt your gameplay but it doesn’t help either. You’re essentially paying to get an extra player piece, which you could just use any small item to do that.

There is a painted figurine pack of five that you can get from Restoration Games for $15. I’d get that to add another person. If you get the treasure trove expansion of cards also that will add depth to the game for the lowest cost.

I watched your 2019 top 100 where you had the original in the top 10. In your opinion how does to remake compare? Would it rank higher or lower in the list vs the original? With all the expansions it certainly looks more complicated!

I like both versions. I think it comes down to whether you like simplicity or strategy better. I think the remake is very good, but there are alot more rules and the expansions add alot more. The original is simpler and has a charm to it. For me its a tough call.

What if you drop the fireballs which hit down the snakes, and the snakes knock down another person, but the fireball doesn’t touch that person. Does that person give up a treasure as well or just gets a snake bite? Also can you take the Heart in that situation or do you only get the heart from someone by passing them?

If you are knocked down, you give up a treasure (except the Heart). You only give up the Heart when someone passes you and nicks it.
