Thanks Marty, you are my cousins that used to jam with me when I was a kid 50 years ago. The three of us used to play songs all day long in my cousins room. They were teaching me guitar. They could read music. Like you they made it easy for this kid to follow. Thanks My new Cousin.

You are very welcome cousin!! That is how I learned as well, by playing with others in my kitchen, great times and memories. Thanx for dropping me a note and say Hi to the Family for me!! Take care!!

2nd chord is actually A#dim7, so you'll want to play it like an A7, but with a Bb starting note (fret 1 on the A string).

Seems like everyone is scared of that chord. Rarely see anyone using it when they cover this song.

His instruction is wrong. Annoying when instructors don't instruct correctly. The hammer on from A to Bb is so obvious no one should have missed it.

Imo, a better fuller and easier honky tonk bar chord sound is strumming a Bar chord A, and sliding down one fret to a simple Bar C#m, rather than the A5. All bars A C#m Bm E E7 :)
@Gorf_Denroh7 жыл бұрын
Great tutorial! Simple, and easy to follow. One thing (and I could be wrong here), but to my ear, it seems like there should be another chord following the Bm on the second part of each verse (i.e., "when I took his glass of cham pagne" and "just give me an hour and then"). I tried a Dm and it sounds good, but I'm not sure if it's correct. There's definitely another chord there though. Anyway, thanks again! Liked and subscribed!

Hi. Just learning guitar (about a month or so in) and playing around with this song. It might be just me but as I'm picking on this guitar, with the same fingering on the opening notes, it actually sounds more like the song if you pick the sequence; A-D-G-B then A-D-B-E. Let me know what you think please... If I am hearing it correctly. Thanks

That kid in the other video is in the wrong key (G). Brooks does it in A. This guy got the key right, but the rest of it is wrong. I don't think he even listened to the song. He completely left out the Bbdim7 chord. If a so called instructor is going to teach it is imperative he knows what he's doing. Listen to the song!!!

Just a thought regarding the key of the song when performing it. I’m not a huge country fan but because a lot of people are, we’re adding a few tunes to our list. I’m pretty sure the original version of the song spans a vocal range of about 2 octaves. Never thought much one way or another about Garth Brooks until I listened closely to how he really masters the vocals through vibrato, coo’s and general variation. So, for the singer who’s range might be a bit lower, I would suggest performing this in Ab, which leaves more room to maneuver vocally. For reference, a good example of the song done in Ab is by Florida Georgia Line.

That A5 you're playing should be a diminished chord, not a fifth.
