Hey, Scott. I’ve been playing since 1964 and love JW. Every time I think I’ve nailed one of his licks, I listen to him and it’s back to the drawing board. You did a fine job on this video. I’m 68 and still learning! Learning a lot from you. Keep on teaching bro.

Thanks. Incredible tone. What kind of pickups are those? I assume that's a strat? What amp are you using? Thanks again.
@ScottVanZenGuitar3 жыл бұрын
Thank you, I’m using Seymour Duncan hot stacks and a Marshall 800 amp profile on my kemper. I know the tone is not like Johnny Winter because he use that Firebird. I appreciate the kind words

@@ScottVanZenGuitar It was his style, though. Such a great guitarist - so fast. I saw him twice back in the '70s with Johnny Winter And and he was great. It kind of bummed me out later on in his career when he said he never cared for his rock 'n' roll phase, being a blues guy. For someone who didn't care much, he sure played it well!

Agree 100%. That’s still alive and well record is a staple for me. I still bought out a couple times a year and listen to it

You really captured the essance of JW's playing. Sounds great! BTW, you brought back some good memories of my dad's 1977 Pontiac 4-door Sedan with the 8-track on board. That car was a beast.

Thank you. Your vision brings back some memories for me and I wasn’t even there Lol

To play like Johnny you have to play with your thumb Chet Atkins style

I wish I have a talent to play like this. I will start practice as soon as my fractured wrist hills a bit. It's just for my self . I'm still sad he is no longer on this planet .🎸🎸🎸

Great Job! I've seen and met Johnny...and you are very parallel! You remind me of when he and I used to jam.

Hey, thanks Scott. I don't play guitar and this lesson shows me just how much was involved in Johnny Winter's playing. Truly amazing!
