That riff always reminded me of the Day Tripper riff.

I am proof evident of that. I went to a friends house and played this opening riff and he was a huge Beatles band and said “Hey man, is that Day Tripper?” Very similar in the notes.

Great video and playing Kelly !! This was the first cd I ever got when I was a kid… I remember hearing this and Powerage from my neighbors older brother , I had a gift certificate for disc jockey music store , I was maybe 10 or 11 … 1993ish…. The store didn’t have powerage , CDs had just come out not even a decade before and were expensive , powerage wasn’t on the shelf so I grabbed Hair of the Dog instead. I still have it to this day !! Glad I’m not the only one still loving it !! 😎🫶🏻

Ha! First song I ever learned by ear, myself. Btw, love the crypto analysis of the song title. Never seen your channel before but you have great on-camera presence and teaching approach. Believe I’ll be following you. :) Good stuff. Keep it up!

I used to listen to this when I was a child , and my dad would barge in the room and ask me what on Earth I was doing . I've always liked this song though . I haven't played my guitar for ages , but I might try this for fun . Nice guitar by the way ! It'll be fun to learn I think .

That reminded me of Cheech and Chong and their parody Ear Ache My Eye! Lol If you have never heard it, check it out on KZbin and you’ll understand the comparison. Along with a big laugh!

Your song lessons are some of the best on KZbin (and, I’ve seen a bunch of ‘em) and this one doesn’t disappoint. Have you ever considered doing a tutorial for Cry For You by Andy Timmons? Such a great song.

Hey, i just wanted to say your story about how you didnt make it was really good. It was nice to see someone who was honest and as a musician trying to break into the field it gave me some idea of what to becareful for. Also your dover explantation is helping a ton im still a bit sloppy but im getting it slowly slowly so thank you very much

I’ve finally after 15 years of attempting to teach myself guitar (and not really going anywhere) I finally was able to figure it out and this riff has been one I’ve been working on. Sure, the tab I found works, but I love your video as the tab was lacking and I could tell, I just couldn’t figure out where and why. Thank you for your content!

Once you learn the song use the backing tracks on KZbin and bluetooth it to a speaker and then play along with it. I run my phone through a Spark 40 amp, and with my guitar plugged in and playing along, it sounds like I’m playing with the band.

@KellyDeanAllenGuitar, Great job! You nailed that song! That the second song I've ever learned, the first song I've learned was "The Rover" by Led Zeppelin!

Hi from the UK Kelly, I've recently picked the guitar back up after 30 years (looong story)!! and I stumbled across your channel. Loving the tutorials as I slowly get my chops back together, you have been really helpful. Couple of my favourite blues guys from this side of the pond were/are Robin Trower and Tony Mcphee of the Ground Hogs. Bridge of Sighs and Split are two great guitar albums. Don't know how they translate states/canada side. Keep cutting it fella!!

Great lesson, Kelly - one of the finest riffs ever, 100%. My covers band always open with "Faith Healer" straight into this one. A classic Scottish One/Two, barely a person standing after that. Best wishes from Edinburgh, Scotland, as ever.

And BTW… EHX makes this “Cocked Wah”or something deal. I think I got mine for 120? It’s got this talk box switch on there. I mean you can’t make “ words” like a talk box… but it’s great for faking though stuff like this. Kelly….. you’re a great player and great teacher with great taste. I’ve been playing a long time … I’d be happy to take a zoom lessen or 2 from you.

It’s super simple you just go to the six to the 5 to 4 and 32 the one weight back to the 6 to 8 or the third or the fourth back to the fifth down to the third out of the fifth seventh fifth back to the third down to the fourth over the fifth down to the third over the second and then strum again and repeat again down the third over the fourth up to the fifth over the eighth 10th to the 12th 13th to the 15th 17th to the 12th hypotenuse of the triangle and there it is, hair of the dog! 😢🙄

kzbin.infoZ4oTcs8llKg?si=aI01MfCpfs4geMLk You should have more views. I knew the song, but I just needed a refresher course to make sure I was on track and this is exactly what I needed. Great looking guitars as well. I run a channel and I gave you credit in the description field along with the link to this video. I hope you don’t mind me posting my video here. Nice video under 10 minutes great explanations, and also an incredibly awesome shirt!

I watch the entire video and in the beginning he’s really just playing it in his own style and not being so restrictive and black-and-white. A great demonstration of how flashy you can look on plan a relatively simple song. But later, in the video, he goes over the song note by note. In fact, I knew the song I just watch this video to get a refresher course before I posted my video on name this song. In my opinion, it was a decent video and a great looking guitar! I am not criticizing what you’re saying I’m just giving an objective point of view on what I saw.
