My missus an I have always said it's a masterpiece. We in our 60s and she comes home with highway star blaring out the car speakers. I just smiled. I play and am subscribed to u , so I have promised myself to learn it from you. Shut up and play. I like it. greg an jen

Great lesson! I made a breakthrough with my picking hand working on this solo. Thank you for this inspiring lesson!

There was a time when I could've played this easily, but never really learned it. Now, after all these years, I have slowed down, and don't really have the chops I once had. Trying to do this, I feel like a stroke victim relearning to walk.

This is an excellent cover and I have no hope of matching this skill level, but it is amazing that when Blackmore plays it, the fingers seem a lot lazier when fretting. Probably an illusion, but it is noticeable to me :)

If only there was an internet and cool people like this to instruct us how to play all the classic songs growing up in the 70's - back then then all we had were vinyl albums to scratch up or cassette tapes to rewind...How did you learn all your stuff "Shutup & Play"
@ShutupAndPlayGuitarTutorials9 жыл бұрын
Joe Smith Hey Joe, yeah well exactly what you said, vinyl albums, just putting the needle on over and over, and that was if I had the record because back in the day I couldn't afford to buy them. When cassettes came out I thought I'd died and gone to heaven haha. Now days I use Transcribe, great program. Really good for slowing down those fast licks. cheers

At the beginning of the solo I thought the higher part was played in the 13th position in the lesson but that's not how it's shown here or am I wrong?

technical question; on your highway star demo from 0:50 to 1:21 is your picking speed the same for all the runs up & down the neck or do you alternate picking styles at some point??
@ShutupAndPlayGuitarTutorials9 жыл бұрын
+Brian Hariot Well, I pick it the same all the way through the fast part. Hope that helps. cheers
@jadm1109 жыл бұрын
if possible could you turn up the volume of your mic, on the Europa, BMW & Highway Star it's hard to hear what you are saying when by contrast your guitar is much louder " not to be critical " I just want to hear what you have to say on the lessons thank you for doing such cool lessons!
