Best boardgame I have played. Most charming, intelligent, tight and beautiful and exciting! I have played SO many boardgames but this game is pure quality on all aspects. Mechanics are so admirable and fun. Deep strategy and just feels like it fills your soul with joy. I could do free commercial for it because I really want more people to know about it and buy it!

The drafting is incorrect. You keep 1 card pass 3 along, then keep 2 cards pass 2, then keep 3 cards pass 1. At each stage you add the cards you kept to the cards you were passed, so you can choose whether to keep or trash a card you've previously selected).

Yes, this is a MAJOR oversight in a "how to play" video.

Also RULE NOTICE! In the beginning you placed the Citadel in a zone that could specifically not have Citadels built in it :D And the Sanctuary is in another zone. Both should be in the same zone.

Rules explanations should be calm, methodical, not have jerky camera movements or cut-in self correction. This adds to confusing the viewer, which is not what you want when learning a game. I'm sorry, but this video is definitely not for me.

Good video, but I am worried that you are doing some of the rules wrong. One) the Flock of crows token is tossed, like a coin. Not simply flipped. Two ) You show a clan retreating into an error that he is not the chieftain of. I am pretty sure this is not a legal move.
@HydraLord8 жыл бұрын
Michael Santoroski you are correct on both accounts. The coin should be flipped after each round.. Placement on camera is not consistent with the rules i explained. Ill bring this second point up with the editors.

@maxwellschultz47844 жыл бұрын
He covered the three victory conditions. Meet one or more of those during assembly or drafting phase while possessing a pretender token. As long as no one else ties or meets more of the victory conditions than you then you win. Bren breaks ties.

Nope... no clue about how to play this. I couldn't follow this. Boom, there are suddenly two citadels on the board for some reason. Bam, you get cards from one deck but some how play cards from the others. Kapaow, there are map tiles stacked aside... just because. You win be holding a token during a certain phase but you are only pretending to hold the token or something... If I ever get a chance to play this game, I'll read the rules just like I do for every game. I enjoy reading rules anyway - and also discussing and debating them. There is also the contacting the game developer for rule clarification... sometimes they even give an ambiguous answer that doesn't actually answer the question being asked.
@NoChance188 жыл бұрын
He added citadels to the map only as a way to show how they work. In the game, they are added with action cards (green). Action cards also net you red cards, more clans (units), allow you to move/attack, allow you to place new map tiles, and more. Red cards are basically super-powered versions of the green cards, and yellow cards are earned by being "chieftain" (most clans on a tile) of their tiles. He mentioned in the video that you'll do all your actions using the green action cards, but I suppose he could have been clearer. The "pretender" tokens simply acts as a warning action with you basically saying "I'm about to win!". You must collect a pretender token in order to claim victory objectives; which gives other players a chance to react and prevent you from winning. If there are ties for winner: no one wins and the game continues. (Exception: The "Brann" breaks victory ties.) He should've been clearer on this.

A shame that Inis is so hard to get ahold of, from what I've seen. It's a damn fun game, and needs more exposure than it gets.
@steatopigeon8 жыл бұрын
That said, looking at the initial setup, doesn't the capital area also get a sanctuary by default?

Oh, the typographical mistake are becoming obvious. In 'Tír na nÓg' the 'n' should always be lowercase, in small caps, or separated with a hyphen to indicate is not actually part of the word 'Óg', but a bleedover from the genitive definite article.

@BunanTsokolatte8 жыл бұрын
He does point out the pronunciation correction at 0:12.
@talideon8 жыл бұрын
Bunan Tsokolatte, by which point I'd already posted my first comment. This is a correction of the very 'correction' you mention: the 'inish' pronunciation is the _only_ correct pronunciation, but that 'correction' makes out that it's just another way of saying it. Moreover, my comment points out that the definition given for 'inis' was wildly incorrect: 'inis' means just 'island' and most certainly not 'in the rier island' or anything like that.
@BunanTsokolatte8 жыл бұрын
Ah. And I DID specify that I was talking about the pronunciation. It's fine to clarify the definition but it's not relevant to what I was talking about. I don't think it's supposed to be interpreted as an ALTERNATE pronunciation but the correct one. The 'also' in that sentence is meant more as a 'by the way' as in 'By the way, Ivan, it's pronounced 'inish'." It's a continuation of the previous caption. And that comment you mentioned wasn't showing when I replied to you so you may want to consider consolidating them in one.
@HydraLord8 жыл бұрын
This is the correct interpretation. I was pretty embarrassed to discover I pronounced it wrong and just wanted to at least make fun of myself for missing that key detail. This tends to happen when your absorbing rules for multiple games at a time and writing scripts for them.
