How to play jiu-jitsu with your kids Part 1: Guard recovery development

In this video Relson Gracie Black Belt Robin Gieseler shows you how to
play jiu-jitsu with your kids. The best way to develop
jiu-jitsu attributes when your children are young is by disguising the
movements as games. Here is an example of how you can develop hip
movement, fun and love for grappling in your child at the same time
bonding with them. BJJ is great for kids to to develop confidence and learn real self defense skills. Starting at home is great way to introduce them to this wonderful martial art.

I tried this with my son... He reversed me , passed my guard , got side control, faked a Kimura and mounted me... then finished me with an Arm bar.... lol I guess he needs something more advance! ;) great video though !!! thanks for posting! oss!

Man, I cant thank you enough for these videos. I love BJJ, but I am struggling to involve the family. I have one child, she is 2 and a half almost three. And I my wife and I are amped up and ready to get her into a sport or two. I insist on a martial art and my preferred art is BJJ. My wife is totally on board and this is an awesome way to get her started. Love to see others who involve their family in to the game!

Great video, I have 3 boys and they do folk style wrestling. I like the idea of them getting used to moving on the ground using upper body and hips. It is very smart to make it fun. I want to teach basic Jiu Jutsu as a supplement to their folk style wrestling. It would have to bring their level up.

My husband has been doing this with our girls since they were tiny. I just thought he was tickling them. Now they're 6 and 8 and just started jujitsu and are advancing really well. Never knew he was covertly ninja training them this whole time! lol!!

Step one, buy a mat. I bought two 5' x 10' Dollamur Flexirolls on sale for $200 a piece. Super lightweight and easy to roll up and set to the side when not in use. Much better and safer than rolling around on carpet + easy to clean afterwards. I play with my kids every chance I get using the mats. In addition to practicing Jiu Jitsu, they also allow us to practice wrestling and Judo bc theyre 2" high density foam. Besides that excellent video, seven kids kudos to you, you def have your hands full.
