I am a absolute beginner and I am enjoying your tutorials. When I don't understand what you are doing, it's only because I haven't mastered a basic concept. So I stop and spend a couple days rememorizing the strings or my fingers or a chrod progression in relation to the strings. If I master this, it will be my first song. Thank you for making sense in a world of confusing videos! It's difficult to learn alone as an adult and you are making it more fun!

Thank you so very much for your support Mel; as a retired teacher it's wonderful to hear personal stories like this, and to know folks can learn something from my tutorials. I started learning guitar as a teenager, but spent far too long just being a basic 3-chord type "strummer". It was a long time before I was introduced to finger-style playing, but there was no KZbin around then to help! Very good luck on your musical journey. If you need any more help with this great song please let me know.

I just played through your three videos for JP's "Speed...". Wow, your breakdown of all of the songs elements is fantastic. You are a gifted instructor, indeed! I will be jumping into the song, hope to master it. Additionally, I also love the songs of Steve earle. It'd be great if you could do a thorough breakdown of some of his wonderful fingerpicking tunes, such as "Goodbye" , "Fort Worth Blues" to name two. His right hand style is extraodinary, and seemingly different.

Long time since you did this Jim but never say never. This is a wonderful set of tutorials and very easy to follow. That switch in the picking pattern is a revelation. Thanks so much as always. Have you ever done the Townes Van Zandt version of Pancho and Lefty? Well if you ever find yourself at a loose-end.............................................!!!

Jim. Thank you so much. You have really helped me with my fingerpicking. Buckets of Rain, Don't Think Twice, and Sound of the Speed of Silence are an amazing set of tutorials. What gague strings are you using on the guitar in these tutorials (the one with the Elvis sticker)? Thanks again...

@@keithskelton5596 Just had a listen Keith - I hadn't heard of the song but will have a go at learning it. If I manage to nail it fairly sharpish I'll put up a close-up vid for starters. Keep sane - keep pickin'!!
