This song transports me to another world. Thanks for sharing your gift with us. I found an old John Prine cassette tape back in 1980. Changed my world. He was a master. And so are you. My band plays this song for nursing home residents. The lyrics really don't match the bouncy happy melody, but maybe that is part of John Prine's genius. The world needs more music!

I have been playing this song for about a year and have been using various tempos looking for the right feel based on my voice. Your version of this is practically perfect in my opinion and I will try to copy your cover if I may. I decided to reverse the second and third verses because I think it tells a better story and I don't think John would have minded. Thanks very much for this performance.

Thank you very much! The harmonies are from a TC HELICON VOICE LIVE ACOUSTIC, which is actually my voice being layered, not robot voices lol it takes the key from the guitar chords I play, or you can manually set it. It's really cool!

I’ve listened to country alll my life. The old rock and roll. I love a lot of what is labeled Americana music. I like most anything that sounds good to me lol. But you young lady sound super good. You are someone I look forward to seeing what you bring out next. Does hubby play and sing also? If I have one regret in life , it’s I didn’t learn to play guitar.
