In general, I prefer to run lethal tempo with AD builds and hail of blades with AP builds. AP Kai'sa usually isn't in Auto range too often except after an ult so stacking lethal tempo can be tricky.

If you're going the guinsoos variation, ap kaisa actually does really well with lethal tempo. You get tons of value from your autos since your passive gives you onhit damage that you're getting extra procs from the guinsoos passive, which means you will burst multiple passive stacks throughout a fight with good kiting. The ap burst from using w is more of a bonus to your options when you're playing fights slower, or a literal assassin tool when you're fighting close quarters. Essentially ap onhit kai'sa's best champion identity is to play in lucian vayne range and utilize her w as a resetting burst tool, and also as a tool to enter fights or cross them from a distance.

There is a better build than that rifht now, rush kraken Slayer into Wit's End, it guarantees Q and E evolve at lvl 8/9 and it's the best possible build against AP champions like Swain and Evelyn

Generally, poke lanes struggle with wave clear so keeping them pushed under tower will keep them from being able to use their poke on you as they'll have to use abilities to not lose CS to tower.
