Have always loved this song - great in choral arrangements, too. You can pick up the tune in half a minute and spend half you life singing it. Plus those nutty lyrics - was once a lawsuit in the UK trying to claim compensation for offence/hurt feelings. For once the lawyers left court with their pockets unstuffed with cash.

May I ask why there are 8 tuner pegs on your 4 string uke?

@@karent.8245 Sure thang! It's an 8-string ukulele! The strings are doubled GG CC EE AA. One of the G strings a wound string (like guitar strings). However for this and that reason at the moment I only have 4 strings on it. When it's fully strung, it has a lovely long-resonating harp-like sound. 8-string models are a great choice for performing singers (like myself) because the sound is fuller and resonates longer than regular 4-string ones.

There was a vogue for using cat(s) in this sense in the early 70s. See Bowie All the Young Dudes (‘drank some wine/feeling fine/gonna chase some cat to bed) Cat I seem to remember was (oddly as feline is usually associated with feminine) only used for males. So DB could get his risqué lyric past the radio censors 😅
