I wanted to learn Scar Tissue for a long time but i just started playing guitar (december) so i wanted to delay it a little. My go-to guitar-SONG-teacher is marty schwartz and i also started to watch his scar tissue video. but he started to do hybrid picking with pick and fingers and i was like "i never saw john doing that". then i remembered my favorite youtuber of all time said he wanted to do a lesson on scar tissue later in his john-series. im so happy ur doing this. all of your content is great but especially this series. it gives me as a total rookie and frusciante lover (just started loving him after starting to play the guitar, because his style is so emotional and it just touches my heart) a vision where it can go and where i want to go. please never stop and much love from germany! PS:if you ever run out of material just do song lessons like this. i really appreciate you taking the time to do a 40min+ lesson where as other youtubers barely do 10min lessons and i often feel left behind as a noob. again much love!

Yeah you can hybrid pick it of you have trouble skipping strings. Also you can do both of you're not great at muting strings. BUT. Those muted strings add a much desired depth to the song

Hey Dave! I have a question about your vid here. I feel like the solos are not the same as the how John plays them officially. I love your version and I studied it for this entire week without looking at tabs. The chorus seems VERY straight forward on the official song, but yours is a lot more involved, which i like, but I guess I am wondering if you could help me figure out whats going on, lol. If not, i appreciate your channel as always!

Hello Dave, big question here... Am i suposed to palm mute with the picking hand when plaing the intro? I have a vintage start, a vintage Tele and the vintage 335. The first two are fantastic, the 335 is nowhere near the quality of the other two. It feels really cheap and sounds crap unless you saturate it with gain. It's a real disappointment compared to the other two. Low quality all over.
