l used to think EVH and Yngwie were fine guitarists, until I heard Noel riffing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star on a couple of solos. Pretty sure EVH doesn't build his solos around the theme of "Old MacDonald had a Farm", like Noel can. James Hetfield actually learned his strum pattern from Noel.

Dave's Guitar Club Thank you! Really it started off just noticing the differences in the accents of my favorite English bands. The Beatles from Liverpool, Oasis from Manchester and Arctic Monkeys from Sheffield. Everyone knows what a southern accent sounds like because it’s just so prominent in media even here in the states. As far as picking your’s out, it was different from what I’d heard before but it sounded like halfway between Yorkshire and Manchester, so I just guessed somewhere in between. I’m really surprised to have gotten it so accurate honestly and thank you for obliging me lol.

I'm trying to follow this video and write original songs that have a tint of Noel Gallagher's style but every time it do it always sounds like a pre-existing oasis song... any tips? i was writing a song in the key of Em and i decided the verse would be Em-A7sus-G,Em-A7sus-A7, and the chords C-G-D-Em (ending the chorus with B7 because of the Secondary Dominant Chord tip). aaand its basically supersonic but worse
@DaveyH
@DaveyH 3 жыл бұрын
Hi mate, sorry for late reply, been increbibly busy. That's a pain but awesome that your using the secondary dominant tip. It sounds to me like you maybe trying to use too many of the same chords that Noel uses in his songs, which will be why its sounding just like a noel song. I'd say try changing a few of the chords. Maybe try taking inspiration from another band as well and try mixng up the chord progressions to make a bit of a hybrid progression. You are using chords from the key of G, so maybe try find another song you like by a different band (preferable in the same key) and try using some chord ideas from there song and mash them together. As long as it sounds good of course. Alternatively I can recomend some different chords that you can replace what you already have with... A7sus4 will change to Am or Am7 nicely, maybe even using Asus2 would have a different flavour and should still work, this might actually work really well ad I can't think of noal using many sus2 chords. Might not work but you could try changing the C in the chorus to an F, this will use the flat 7 major tip but this might not have the sound you are after. Hope this helps a bit and hasn't been to waffly

Hahaha that's very likely, it's more likely he has learned songs from his favourite artists and used things that they have done in there songs, but made them his own and put his own stamp on them. The beatles used an awful lot of the things Noel does and it's pretty obvious he's a huge beatles fan. To be fair even if he doesn't know what he's doing he's written some absolute classics...so doesn't matter. Thanks for watching!
