Honestly, I was gonna say Half-elf, Fighter/Warlock. Half-elf because the Hylians don't seem to be completely elfish in most version, but it is up to the player how much elf they want to have, I guess. Fighter is the standard soldier motif that his background resides in, and can deal with most, fi not all weapons. Ranger was an interesting concept to run with. I dual-classed to Warlock, as he often gets powers granted from Great Fairies. Breath of the Wild is more of a Artificer, though.

I have a feeling you can dump strength actually. depending on which version of link you play, he us able to lift pots and small rocks among other things. But he usually gets a strength increasing item (gauntlets of ogre strength maybe?) and is then able to lift larger rocks and objects because of it. He actually solves most of the puzzles himself (well, the player does) so I would think his int is actually above average, though wisdom can also help in terms of being able to observe his environment. Link starts the game with only three hearts which, in the grand scheme of things, is not very high hp wise. He is also oddly charismatic, and can draw in the trust of people. citing the twilight princess, skyward sword etc. Also hyrule warriors and breath of the wild, where he is head of the military. he is great at horseback riding, and archery, while wielding a short sword which uses dexterity. Which I say can serve as a good excuse to have him rely mostly on that.
@iktanmiztonton3477

Yeah, I agree. Let's study link a bit: Let's start with the elephant in the room: the Trifoce, as you know, each piece of the triforce pick one of the main characters who represent them. Ganondorf with the desire of ruling is given the Trifoce of Power. Zelda is a wise person, even as a child, therefore she is chosen by the triforce of wisdom and Link, Link pretty much lacks wisdom as his Triforce is Courage. Link is a daredevil, so dumping Wisdom is a must. As for constitution, link has to collect hearts to increase his constitutions, but it is possible to save the world without them as there is always the three heart challenge. So this is another one we can be dumped, though I'd suggest focusing on obtaining constitution items. As for strength, Link is not known to be strong, as you said, but he obtains magic items to help him obtain strength he needs to pull out some feats. Now for the good points, I believe Dexterity and Intelligence have been one of Link's strong points. He has been known to solve puzzles, dodge traps, and attacks, and he is also dependent on his items to deal damage more against his enemies. So he is also a dungeon diver, he is good at finding treasures. So I bet Investigate, history would help him find treasures. Link's always been a character with a lot of charisma with every incarnation, in some he has been able to get better deals when trading. So this should actually be high too. TL;DR: Dump Wisdom and Strength. Constitution can also be dumped. Dexterity, Intelligence, and Charm are what you need to max.

@elfireii328

And to be fair, an optimized run of any zelda game rarely ever sees link taking damage thanks to his shield and dodging ability. So having low HP and having high AC to become a dodge tank sounds about right. He could even spec into rogue to get evasion to counter aoe attacks as well. We can visualize this as a "perfect shield" in breath of the wild, where link can completely avoid damage from any attack, and even reflect them. This also plays into the times link is stealthy like in wind waker, and the option to backstab enemies in breath of the wild. Also, I can see link having decent to above average wisdom depending on his iteration. Any version of him that comes from the forest needs to have average to above average wisdom (even 11-12) to compensate lower int. We can trade int and wis in most cases depending where he's from.

Charisma hasn't been the "talking stat" for awhile now. It is your force of will, your drive, your bravery, your resiliency to things like fear, anxiety, or giving into your baser instincts. I can't imagine the Hero of Time with the Triforce of Courage having Charisma as his dump stat. I imagine Link more as a Bard/Paladin or Bard/Ranger with a Hexblade dip depending on what Link we're trying to make. He can cast bardic spells through his Ocarina, Wind Waker, Flute, etc. Bardic Proficiency means that Link is pretty good at everything, which is important since he tends to need to cover a large variety of functions being a solo dungeon delver. Paladin gets access to auras and smites which fit thematically with the 'Sword of Evil's Bane' and his Triforce of Courage allowing him to ignore fear effects and the like. Find Steed lets Link summon Epona from anywhere. Ranger works for reasons already illustrated in this video. Hexblade would be thematic for things like Fi or any other sentient weapon Link occasionally uses, plus it would make him a bit less MAD in that he can use Charisma to attack and you could flavor Eldritch Blast as sword-beams. A lot of the things Link can do are also very item dependent. He doesn't need a super high strength stat as he should ideally be looking for a bracelet or some other item that will raise that for him. I don't feel like he starts with a particularly large amount of health or is especially hardy against the elements as he's normally equipping or finding items that help him in those aspects. He's probably not stupid, but he often has allies or magical entities that help him with puzzle solving for sussing out a boss's weakness. He's clearly super acrobatic with pinpoint accuracy as he flips all over the place. He's brave and doesn't give up. I imagine him as having a 16-18 in Dexterity and Charisma, 12-14 Wisdom, and 10-12 everything else.
@iktanmiztonton3477
@iktanmiztonton3477 5 жыл бұрын
IMO Link lacks Wisdom, canonically, he has always been reckless and brave, yet he has always been Intelligent as he is quite good at navigating through dungeons, solving puzzles. It is also shown when Link meets an undead, he always freezes in fear proving that Link indeed has low Wisdom as Saving Throws for fear is Wisdom. Wisdom is Link's dump stat. And as you said, Link is very item dependent. He doesn't possess spells so a paladin and bard are out of the question because of spells and his Strength and Constitution has always been dependent on questing for items, and before achievements players have finished all games with three hearts, playing it like if it was Dark Souls by dodging most if not all attacks so Link's Dexterity should be high. I'm thinking that Link is strong enough to climb, so his Strength should be high enough for climbing. IMO, it should be Dexterity > Intelligence > Charisma. With enough strength for Link for climbing. Strength = 12 Dexterity = 15 Constitution = 10 Intelligence = 14 Wisdom = 8 Charisma = 13 The Ocarina of Time and any musical item he plays, they are enchanted, they are magical items. So anyone else can play them if they know the notes. So he has always been low in magic abilities. I also suggest starting as a Ranger due to needing Wisdom = +13 to take Ranger, therefore I'd say start with Ranger, and at level 4 take Fighter. Link should aim for also high AC and high Dexterity to dodge most attacks and take Dungeon skills that help him loot better and not get lost. Most of Link's quest focus in gathering items to fight the final boss, so it makes sense. This is mostly more inclined to combat wise and lore-wise in his adventures.

@@iktanmiztonton3477 As with most everything, which saving throw you use is a matter of DM discretion, but fear really ought to generally be challenged by Charisma, not Wisdom. Wisdom is your perception which also informs your "spiritual" connection in the sense that you can perceive nature, gods, and the greater world around. I don't think Link dumps Wisdom because he is typically associated with fairies, gods, and the world around him. He would be a pretty terrible ranger if he dumped wisdom besides. Charisma is much closer to willpower, which is what I would generally use to resist a fear effect. More than this, Charisma represents your bravado, your moxie, and your ability to exert your mental will towards the world around you, whether that is forging ahead despite ReDeads screaming at you, or being inexplicably... well, charismatic despite the fact that you only say 2-3 words to most people. The example I like to give for explaining mental stats (in 5e, mind you) is a enemy wizard casting an Illusory Red Dragon. A high intelligence character might surmise that the probability of a Red Dragon suddenly appearing in this environment is unlikely, and then realize the wizard has cast an illusion. A high wisdom character might see through the Red Dragon as an illusion by picking up on certain nuances in the form that belie its true nature. A high charisma character might not pick up on the nature of the Red Dragon, but he would choke down his fear and charge into battle anyway. This is reflected in the classes and how they use their mental stats to channel magic too. Wizard learns and studies his magical incantations and spells, Clerics and Druids tap into the natural and divine world around them to channel divine beings, Paladins, Warlocks, Bards, and Sorcerers force the world around them to bend (and break) through their sheer force of will. I certainly don't think Link is unintelligent, but I don't think he's a scholar or a wizard either. Canonically he usually has a helper or some other magical device that helps him solve puzzles, and while this is entirely dependent on the gamer, most of his puzzles are aimed at a younger audience and I wouldn't personally consider many of them terribly difficult. I think he's got at least some Bardic training as he very often attains magical instruments that I cannot imagine a normal person would be able to just pick up and utilize. It isn't as though Link just happened upon a magical Ocarina and started traveling through time either; He always has to learn the music or song associated with whatever spell he is going to use. That is the quintessential aspect of what a Bard IS. I already explained why I think he'd work as a Paladin, but Link often and quite literally uses magic to power up his sword attacks for devastating attacks that he is not otherwise capable of. His sword is often infused with actual divine energy that has a major advantage against evil. This is the quintessential aspect of what a Paladin IS. I disagree entirely that Link doesn't cast spells. Yes they are often through magical items, but most spell casters require reagents, symbols, prayers, etc. in order to use their magic. I'm not saying Link should go full sorcerer or wizard, but he obviously has some natural magical aptitude. Also, Ranger can cast spells much like a Paladin. So you're kind of defying your own argument there. Links stats are probably STR: 13, DEX: 16-18, CON: 12, INT: 10-11, WIS: 13-14, CHA: 13-15. He wants to cap DEX asap, and then focus on whatever he uses to cast spells.

@@Warkupo The example I like to give for explaining mental stats (in 5e, mind you) is a enemy wizard casting an Illusory Red Dragon. Wisdom is mostly good judgment. You use wisdom for saving throws when it comes to mind control, manipulation, fear and not to act reckless, just anything that affects your mental state and decision making. Charisma is a passive charm, is mostly a skill related to tricking people. Wisdom deals with the mind, as the charm is mostly how people perceive you and it’s not really into mind, it’s rather physical. Link has been known for lacking resistance against mind control, mind manipulation, fear; and he is also known for being reckless, and having poor judgment, another example would be in the official manga when Link was being mind manipulated, but Shiek (Zelda) had no effect on her. And Link is charming af, imagine, he only says a few words and gets strangers to talk about important information and send you on a quest for some extraordinary item. Alrighty, then I can explain to you why I think Link is very intelligent. Link might not be a bookworm, but he has a learning ability beyond average. And you mentioned, he has a helper who always points him towards magic or something, showing that he lacks perception for anything from magic origin, but the helpers don’t truly help them that much, they give them hits and that is pretty much it. He still gotta manage to solve the puzzles which some have not been solved for a couple of hundred of years. Now, he isn’t a scholar or wizard, but that’s because Link never cared for history, religion, magic. He is a warrior through and through. Now, here is the interesting part, he actually never played instruments before, he was given an Ocarina and started to play it pretty good, some with plenty of instruments, but it doesn’t stop there, it takes little time for Link not to only actually master instruments, but weapons and while he doesn’t care for religion, history, magic, he always remembers. Link can solve puzzles with ease, learn to weird weapons almost instantly, play instruments in a few tries. Actually, one of the things about link playing music is that they show him a few notes and suddenly he can play a whole song which didn’t hear before. Well, it’s not actually him perse casting the magic, but the weapon that casts magic. Anyone who wields it can power up the sword. Link can’t use magic, doesn’t perceive magic, through all of his incarnations, the only two magic users are Ganondorf and Zelda, they possess magic on their own without items, Link possesses magical items that anyone can use. Keyword, anyone can use. So he doesn’t cast any spells, he needs items to cast spells. And yes, the Master Sword it has divine attributes, but only the master sword. D&D also possesses a few holy swords which can do some extra damage to evil. He had other swords with other properties as well, though, but anyone that can wield them can use their power. The reason why I want 3 levels in Ranger is not for casting spells. That being said: Dexterity is always the number one as Link is very active and athletic and wanting to adventure, highly intelligent but only when it comes to instruments, weapons (actually, probably he has high spatial thinking), Charisma is also high as mostly strangers get to trust him at the same time as they meet him, low wisdom for bravery and failing mind control and fear effects. Also, been a TLoZ fan since 1986.
@Warkupo
@Warkupo 5 жыл бұрын
I think something you are missing in this discussion is that I am not trying to pin down the one true Link; Link has many incarnations and I imagine his class/build would change dramatically for each one. Skyward Sword Link might have Hexblade levels, Ocarina of Time/WindWaker Link are thematically appropriate with Bard levels, Breath of the Wild Link really fits the Ranger motif. Link is not a 'one build fits all' character. I mention Paladins' smite as a thematic that would appropriate represent the Spin Attack or other special attacks Link uses that require some kind of resource to cast. There are plenty of other ways (and classes!) to get there, but they aren't really item specific either. I specifically like Paladin for Link to fit that aesthetic because he gets aura's which would help him resist fear effects (which he would need to be brave). Many incarnations of Link require him to unlock magical talents through working with magical entities in order to effectively use magical items that he finds during his adventures. He has often had a classical mana bar and requires magic potions to channel his magical items. You could probably get away with Link as a pure fighter character carrying an arsenal of magic items to supplement him and I don't think that's an incorrect way to play the character at all, but I find it a bit of a stretch to argue that Link lacks any interest or magical aptitude at all just because he often starts as a Dex-based fighter. Nintendo obviously did not intend for Link "quickly" learning a song (or item, or skill) to be anything other than a game mechanic. This is not indicative of some supernatural intelligence Link possess; Nintendo simply isn't expecting you to memorize a full orchestral symphony to make it be day time or tell the wind to go North. Link using a magical instrument to cast magical spells is pretty squarely in the Bard thematic. Even if we're going with the 'Fighter armed to the teeth with magical items' approach I don't know of any DM's who would let you get away with effectively using something like the Ocarina of Time without some level of bardic training. Which is fine since not EVERY Link is using magic songs, but if you want to be one of the Links who does its' hard to argue against Bard being the most appropriate class to fit into that thematic. Citing Zelda, the Triforce of Wisdom, as an example of Link having a low Wisdom by comparison is a pretty stacked argument. I doubt she has anything less than 20 Wisdom, and Link failing a saving throw she passes isn't a statement of anything other than pointing out that Zelda would obviously have a higher Wisdom score than Link. Furthermore it isn't enough that Link simply be intelligent as the puzzles he solves are often a part of the environment; Link needs to be able to pick out the switches he needs to throw, the eyeballs he needs to shoot, the crystals he needs to boomerang, or glowing weak point he needs to slash to kill the bosses he encounters. He often must FIND the pieces of the puzzle he needs to solve the puzzle in addition to solving it and I doubt he's doing that with a regular level of success at 8 wisdom. I really don't think Link is particularly susceptible to mind altering effects or fear either; If anything I think ReDeads are a bad example on your part as Link is able to shrug off their paralytic effect pretty quickly and still has the bravado to take them on and any of the other soul crushing enemies and challenges he regularly goes up against. I have a hard time wrapping my head around your version of the character who is at both times incredibly courageous but also easily terrified. He's the Hero of Time with the Triforce of Courage, it doesn't make sense for him to be easily frightened. And as a nit-pick, ReDeads are described as having a paralytic scream/gaze effect. I could technically argue that it isn't a fear effect at all, but something more akin to a medusa or basilisk and thus more in-line with a Constitution saving throw. On the other hand those things used to make me crap my pants so it's probably disingenuous to pretend like they aren't terrifying. Still, Link marches on.

I’d like to add that, for multiclassing, while you get access to 2nd level spell *slots* upon taking your second Druid level, you still are restricted in what spells you can *prepare* as Druid spells by your Druid class level. So, you won’t be able to prepare 2nd level Druid spells until your third Druid class level, regardless of how many total spellcasting levels you have from all classes. You can still cast lower level spells in those slots, but you can’t prepare those higher-level spells until you get the ability to prepare them normally from the class (this similarly applies to when you suggest preparing 3rd level Druid spells upon the 7th Ranger level and 4th level spells upon the 3rd Druid level). Multiclassing can be pretty broken to the appropriate user, but it’s not as broken as you’re making it appear in this video. I don’t do character theme copying stuff like you’re doing here, but I love Arcane gishes. I have an Arcane Trickster build that will end up as 9AT/11 Diviner Wizard but at least picks up well around level 10 where they’re 5rogue/5wizard and can start using Haste to get an Action cast off like Lightning Bolt, a Bonus for Disengage or Dash, and the Haste action for a sneak attack with a Rapier while moving 50-60 feet thanks to Haste’s move speed doubling. Later, I’ll probably ditch primarily using Haste for a Bigby’s bonus action (it scales really well in higher slots) plus a weapon cantrip (Greenflame blade or Booming Blade from Swordcoast Adventurer’s Guide) with sneak attack or just another big spell if I’m burning through slots on a big boss. Another build I like is 7 Eldritch Knight Fighter/13 Abjuration Wizard. The focus here is more on being a tank, with spells like Fire/Ice Shield (non-concentration spell with long duration), and getting a really high AC from magic shields & light armor plus Shield spell or Absorb Elements, while still dishing out some damage with either conservative spell usage (Weapon cantrip + bonus Attack/concentration-based action from Flaming Sphere/Bigby’s hand) or just casting a bunch of better counterspells and dispels (thanks to Abjuration 10’s ability to add proficiency to the roll, iirc) and reactions to either impose disadvantage or send your Abjuration specialization shield to protect an ally. Debatable whether 6EK/14Abj is better for Spell Resistance purposes vs. Cantrip -> Bonus Attack. For PF2e, I’m planning an interesting Elf pure-Wizard build that essentially is an Arcane Archer thanks to the 4th-level Wizard feat: Enspell Weapon. That, and True Strike apparently becomes actually useful over there as a single-action cantrip (allowing for a movement action *and also* an attack all in the same turn) that also gives other benefits for the attack besides effectively D&D5e advantage when rolling.

@JohnvanCapel
@JohnvanCapel 4 жыл бұрын
Technically, for most versions of Link you can get away with either a straight Ranger or even some variation of Fighter (Champion for the 2D Zelda games, Battlemaster for Wind Waker and Skyward Sword). Link just has a DM showering him with custom magic items to compensate for the fact he's playing a solo game of D&D and the game is built around playing with a full party. I'd also argue that Hylians are mechanically just human or half-elf at most, not full elves. In half the games, we start the game with Link sleeping, which Elves don't do. We also know for a fact that Link's age in Breath of the Wild is a result of him being in magical cryo-stasis for 100 years. Him and Zelda effectively cheated their normal lifespans. Lastly, Link doesn't get Darkvision, relying on a lantern or torches to see in dark places in quite a few games.

I feel like two VERY big classes were missed. Paladin, because Link is consistently a champion for the cause of good, with different Sacred Oaths depending on which game you want to emphasize: Oath of Devotion for OoT, Oath of the Crown or Oath of the Ancients for BotW. Also, you could actually argue for Warlock: Pact of the Hexblade because the Master Sword is kind of a sentient blade, thanks to Fi.

@blue_caduceus592 5 жыл бұрын
@@dave1411 Well, in BotW, Link is shown to be proficient in full plate armour (Soldier Set, Guardian Set), so he could theoretically just actual armour and forego mage armour entirely. I'd say that ideally, Link would start a few levels in Paladin (Oath of the Devotion) to represent his service to Hyrule, then pick up a level of Warlock (Hexblade) after he is chosen by the Master Sword. Upon his reawakening, he'd pick up levels of Ranger (Hunter) or Fighter (Battle Master), whichever part you want to emphasize. You could even argue that Link could pick up a few levels of Bard or Rogue; between his sheer versatility and tendency to pick up magical music items, or attract the fancies of maidens in spite of not saying much. I'd say that the most important thing for a Link build is to invest at least 10 levels into Paladin though: for the Aura of Courage ability. It's a nifty ability that fits really well into Link's most definitive character trait. I also think that dipping into Barbarian Path of the Ancestral Guardian would be an interesting nod at Links from days past.

Checking back on this after the Zelda Build, seeing how well they mesh. EDIT: pretty damn well. Both builds are fairly self-sufficient, Link more so, but they don’t step on each other’s toes. More healing is more healing, always good to have a backup there. Link isn’t a dedicated tank, but he’s a passable one, and between all the healing they’v both got he can stick around long enough for either spells or sword or knife to fell the foe. Or they could just hop on Epona and pepper the enemy with ranged damage while running away.

@iktanmiztonton3477
@iktanmiztonton3477 5 жыл бұрын
Actually, you might want to dump Wisdom due to a few fatal errors: Link carries the Triforce of Courage. High Wisdom will have conflicts when trying to roleplay someone with high courage. As for the dungeon explorer, Link doesn't use instincts, but rather high intelligence to read maps and solve puzzles, he is really smart, but also very brave so wisdom gets in the way. As for Strength and Constitution. Link actually depends mostly on items to pull his stats, just enough strength for climbing and such and constitution can below the average, just focus on finding some items to make up for both of them. Link's combat style focuses mostly on dodging and always moving to dodge attacks while finding weak spots and carrying weapons designed to defeat their enemies. Also, Link is very charismatic and has even got good deals when buying items. So focus mostly on Dexterity as your primary, second should be Intelligence and Charisma should be third. As I see it, Str should be the 4th highest, and fight constitution. Keep Wisdom low, remember, you will role play as someone who is brave, so you pretty much jump into danger, can't have wisdom stop you from pulling out some brave stuff, hence why also Dex should be high, but while Link lacks wisdom he is not dumb, he does makes plans and have a strategy against each enemy. Something like this would fit Link much better. Str: 12 Dex : 15 Con: 10 Int: 14 Wis: 8 Cha: 13

Couple errors in here, but good effort! Biggest one jumping out is at 18:00 you suggested that at 3rd level druid could learn wall of fire because the character would have 4th level spell slots. While they would have the slots, you would only be able to know spells that a 3rd level druid could learn (1st and 2nd lvl). This applies to the ranger as well. Your character would be restricted to the spells that each class could learn at each of their respective class levels (tracked separately for each class). You can still use the slot to upcast a lower level spell, but you can't learn a spell of a higher level. Don't worry, I fell for this trap too when I started making characters. :) Otherwise, you could take 17 levels in Bard to learn their 9th level spells, then multiclass once in each wizard, druid, and cleric and have access to all their 9th level spells too.

Hey there. Multiclasser here. A 2nd level druid cannot prepare LV2 spells, even if they have LV2 spell slots from multiclassing. Likewise, a 3rd level druid cannot prepare LV4 spells, even if they have LV4 spell slots from multiclassing. Once Link takes his 3rd level in druid, he can prepare LV2 druid spells. That being said, he can use the higher spell slots to fuel his wild-shape healing, or cast empowered versions of spells (like a 2nd level cure wounds spell for 2d8+wis). For all future builds: Spells per day = multiclass table Spells known/prepared = individual class only, and only up to the maximum level that class could learn/prepare if it weren't multiclassing Truestrike is actually something I can see link having. He frequently uses charge attacks, aka, spending a turn to charge the sword, then hitting harder afterwards. Truestrike is still a garbage spell, but it is flavorful at least.

Samuel Baker actually they should be able to prepare spells at higher levels even if they lack some levels in druid. Assuming they have the slots for multiclassing. I present this from the Druid spell casting section: “You prepare the list of druid spells that are available for you to cast, choosing from the druid spell list. When you do so, choose a number of druid spells equal to your Wisdom modifier + your druid level (minimum of one spell). The spells must be of a level for which you have spell slots.” Note it doesn’t say anything about Druid level. Correct me if I’m wrong here, but that’s all I’ve found on that.

Oddly enough, and I know this probably sounds incredibly weird, I'd like to see you use the "Kids On X" franchise to build characters. It's a simple to run and use setting where the characters have the stats Brains, Brawn, Fight, Flight, Charm and Grit, each of which are assigned one of the standard 6 dice of RPG (D4, D6, D8, D10, D12 and D20) with stat checks being "DM picks which stat or stats are relevant for an action and has the player roll accordingly"; it was used at least twice by "Dimension 20" and comes in "Kids On Bikes" (think "Stranger Things" for the kind of setting it's meant for), "Teens in Space" (sci-fi, though it's apparently a bit combat-light so keep that in mind) and "Kids on Brooms" (a magical school type setting which was used by "Dimension 20" for the "Misfits and Magic" campaign), plus something called "Stranger Adventures" which is apparently about more joke-based settings/campaigns. As a side note, I don't know if it would ever happen but I enjoyed the short campaign I did with two D&D-experienced friends (one as the DM and the other as a fellow PC) so much that I would love to see an expansion that features a setting (or even settings) in the vein of "Redwall" and other "animals that act like people" works, though obviously it's entirely possible to homebrew with the franchise, like with any RPG set up worth its salt.

I'm surprised not a single one of these classes were bard, why suggest this? he's decent at sneaking, he's proficient in weapons (valor sublcass perhaps), and uses MUSICAL spells, song of storms, song of time, song of healing, Song of Rest anyone? personally I'd make him a Bard Valor subclass then dip into Warlock for Hexblade, because the Master Sword is Sentient (Eldritch Blast? well that's a sword beam), for musical instrument, I'd say depending on which link, you should go for Flute or just say you have an Ocarina as a reflavored Flute, but link is proficient in many instruments, not counting Majora's mask due to the argument that the spirits were playing often times he doesn't wear heavy armor, and in most of the games where he even has it, it's usually chainmail with the signature tunic over top of it

Just one correction: The hero of time is the specific incarnation of link in Ocarina and Majora, not a title to link. Each different link is hero of something

I'd have taken a cantip I could reflavor as a sword beam. Of course, you could reflavor Magic Missile as that as well. There are so many different Links that either cast spells themselves (Zelda II & Ocarina of Time) or just get magic gear (just about every other game) but he's always a swordsman first and foremost. I like the idea of playing him as a Magus in Pathfinder. It'd be cool to see Link get access to a greater array of spells and I figure it'd be something like a Magus/Duskblade or a Bard.

Imo Eldritch knight should function like sword mage from 4e where their magic focus is their sword so magic missile would look like a sword beam.

OOT Link = Urchin Valor Bard/Feychain Warlock (Deku Tree) with pixie familiar and an Ocarina as a bard focus. TP Link = Folk Hero Battlemaster Fighter/Moon Druid. WW Link = Sailor Valor Bard. BOTW Link = Knight Cavalier Fighter. All Half Elf, Hylians are just humans with pointy elf ears. They don't have any added benefits that a normal human doesn't have. I wouldn't say any of the Link's are super knowledgeable in nature, so other than using bows I don't see them being Rangers. They defend the Kingdom of Hyrule and civilisation, they're not tree hugging.

Umm, if I'm not mistaken, and I very well could be, but a third level druid doesn't have access to 4th level spells yet. If I recall, it's a rule about multi-classing. While you have the 4th level spell slot, the spells you have access to for the class are determined by the class level. I believe the point of this is that you can still up cast many lower level spells, but you're still needing to go through class training and rigor to learn new spells.

I think for race I'd go with Hylian, and class I'd actually say Fighter since his primary weapon is a Sword with a Shield. He wears light armor, (Chainmail under his tunic) and might be a a dual-classed Mage since he knows some spells. For a chosen deity I'd say Hylia as she speaks to him more then the other Goddesses. Anyone ever ran or played a homebrew campaign in Hyrule?

Episode 4 of the Fire Emblem stats: Link. Since this is mostly Ocarina of Time Link, I'll use him here. His sword, bow, and horseback riding are all what you'd expect from a hero like Link. He has a budding talent in reason because he learns to use offensive magic during his travels. He's bad at brawling (since he never fights barehanded) and authority (since he's a mute loner). While his HP and speed are pretty lackluster, he makes up for it in dexterity and defense.

I'd argue that true strike is a terrible cantrip. It gives you advantage on the next attack, at the cost of one action/attack, which just means you roll 2 d20 and take the highest roll. Alternatively you could just attack twice in the same time window and have the opportunity to deal twic as much damage.

While binge-watching some of these, I noticed you like to say "take True Strike" a lot. You know that spell is awful, right? Why spend a spell slot on something the Help action already does? It only lasts until the next round, and "getting advantage" at the cost of two rounds is worse than just attacking for those two rounds. Find something else to pick -- True Strike is terrible in 5e.
