Excellent lesson! Another Bruce Cockburn song that has a great acoustic sound (and, I think, unique tuning) is “Loner”. It would be fantastic if you would delve into that one and enlighten us on it! You’re a great instructor.

This is a fantastic lesson! I was trying to figure this out from that same video of Bruce and his picking style is certainly a challenge, so your breakdown really helps. Thanks! Now it's time to practice a ton.

Thanks so much for breaking this down. Much appreciated. Any chance of adding the fingerstyle bridge section rather than just the strummed part.

Loving the fingerpicking videos Shane - will get onto this once I’ve got my head around the ‘Landslide’ variations we looked at on the last Skype lesson! Those 1-2-1 lessons are really starting to pay off now - great fun too. Would definitely recommend for anyone wanting to push on to the next level and build on the how to videos!

I have been trying to learn this, but the key doesn’t work for my female voice. I have tried using a capo, but it pushes the solo section to far up the neck. Do you have any suggestions? I have tried a number of solutions, but would really like to try and stick to the original chord shapes as they capture the beautiful open - shimmering tone.
@michaelchalut45113 жыл бұрын
Depending on how high you have your capo, sometimes dropping the tuning down a step or two is easier for playability than trying to raise it up 4 or 5 steps with a capo. Maybe you've tried that already...and yeah I know, retuning is always a pain.

Love this. Noticed that you've replaced the Yamaha monitors. I have the Yamahas and just wondering what prompted the change.

Hi Doug, Thanks for that - it's a great song for sure. I have a set of Yamaha monitors at my other location where I sometimes am (the place with the blue walls). The ones you are seeing in this video are Adam A7s which I've had for 15 years. Really nice! Shane

Guitar At Work Well you really do do a terrific job breaking songs down. And I’m always looking over you shoulder to see what you’re using to get such great video. Great camera and editing work as well. Very well thought out, fluid and smooth. You’re one of the best out there in KZbin land!

And, while I have your attention (and if I can impose), if you decide to do a lesson or two on Sturgill Simpson or Jason Isbell, I’d be even more grateful for your great work! “If We Were Vampires” off of The Nashville Sound by Isbell is awesome.
