I have been playing guitar for about 25 years. And have been in a rut for the last decade or so. Not sure really what or how to practice. Not advancing to that next level. I can play pretty fast, and with good control, but it has always seemed kind of aimless to me. By this second exercise I think I have already advanced some...with confidence.....and know what to practice to get better still. Thanks for making these videos.

I can relate that's how I've felt playing classical pieces from time to time over the years. I'm glad these are helpful. These are things that I was taught by the old 70s, 80s and 90s era guys when I was in the early 2000s.

"You need more energy to go up than down." Yes, but you can't go down without first going up. Burning an up stroke (skipping the strings) to get to a more efficient downstroke is not saving energy, it's wasting it. The most efficient strumming possible is to strictly alternate up and down strokes, always. The main reason you deviate from that is for *feel* reasons, not efficiency reasons.
