Sorry after messing around with fourteen year olds I mean playing around with song, I now think it's g maj. Scale when it's the d part of intro then it switches to d maj. For the a part of intro....the c fits in and sounds familiar but the c# is needed for the a part..(I'm referring to the soloing over intro part exclusively)

See, the song goes in chronological order, so the dude is drinking and "watching flies and children" playing on the street and one of those is an older "girl of 14". But Billie Jean is probably a different person. She appears in the 2nd verse "new in town, ruffle dress, golden neckless, french perfume" and her description just doesn't match the girl from the 1st verse. Of course, only John Perry Barlow could tell and I don't think he ever commented and now he never will...

Yeah I thought your supposed to divide your age by 2 and add 7 so that means if he was 25, the lowest he can be with is...... 25/2= 12.5 +7= 19.5 years old is the youngest he should be with........

ok 2 comments...1) instead of the F#m use a B7 and for the other B's use a B7 gives it a better cowboy feel...2) back in the day say around 1880 when this story took place it was very common for girls to be married at 15-16 especially of they were poor...so don't judge the past by today's standards and beside it's a detail of the story and we don't know the age of billy jean
