Excellent presentation. A video on the remaining minor scales starting from a black key would complete you excellent and clear presentation. Thanks.

If you know all the major scales, then you automatically know all the notes to every minor scale (and every mode for that matter). A minor scale starts three half-steps below its relative major scale. A minor is 3 half-steps below C major, and has the same notes as C major. If you ingrain the major scale shapes in your head over all the octaves and practice them starting from the root, as well as starting from every other note in that scale, then you can quickly build the muscle memory and fingerings to play a total of 7 scales very confidently.

Does the theory for lowering 3,6 and 7 apply to the scales starting in the base clef too? I’ve been looking for a video just like this to explain how the minor scales are made so this is perfect thankyou!

It’s just simple plastic page markers. I buy a bunch (plastic/paper) and use them for many things with my students. Also good to use in the sheet music!😁

Inversions?
@johnnyvishnevskiy80902 жыл бұрын
Playing chords with different voicings tells you that the order or number of repeated notes in the chord don't matter, as long as they are somewhere on the keyboard. An inversion is a type of voicing where the order of the notes are changed.

So natural harmonic and melodic are always minor?😳There is no major version of this?
@OnlinePianoCoach Жыл бұрын
Yes! The natural, harmonic and melodic minor scales are variations of a minor scale. Major doesn’t have any variations, it’s just one pattern. 😀

But surely Minor scales by definition are of lesser importance or seriousness than a major scale? I fail to see the significance of a minor scale when the Major scale is more important?
