Be great to get a straight forward lesson without the ‘fluff’ though, i was a lot younger when i first saw this lesson, thought i’d be “never going back again” but the easier tuning drudges me to revisit..

Dear Rob, I decided to take up playing guitar when I was 63 years old after a second prostate cancer operation. Thank you for this video!!!

This is how I learned to play it from guitar tablature that was online back in the 1990s (OLGA) - took me 20 years to finally learn the song and then Buckingham added another part! I've since taught myself the 3rd part in this very tuning. It's not perfect, but close enough to fool most people and it sounds great. Thanks for sharing!

Someone nicked my Get It On version tutor but that's a compliment like you say, one guy did acknowledge me, it dosen't hurt too. I've always struggled with this one so after your fantastic Ride A White Swan (I still can't get my thumb in time lol) I will definitely have a bash at your version. I used to find finger picking really hard in fact too hard. After playing guitar for donkey's years I finally learned to play Falling Slowly and after that I started writing songs with finger picking style and never looked back, it wasn't as hard as I though but reading music and Tabs did help a lot, keep up the great work.

I've been a finger picker for over 55 years. My fingers are automatic. The toughest part for me with this has been teaching my fingers a new pattern. They seem to be adapting well, so, don't give up, your brain will create new pathways, (just like learning to type in typing class in the olden days. Yes, high school offered typing classes). I love this piece so much and have wanted to learn it for so long that I'm thrilled with each measure I get down pat. So, thank you Rob, for introducing an easier way to play this without the bar cord thing. Too, your downloadable charts you offer for free, easily explains how it all comes together. I never dreamed a piece so difficult could be so easy, with just a little effort. Brilliant! Thank you! Sharon, Colorado, USA

What a brilliant teacher, I have been playing for some time now, only picking the guitar up when I was fifty. I have loved this tune for many years but the finger picking was always a little advanced for me as I had got into a rut strumming. The sheets of tabs I have down loaded so all good there and followed your picking rhythm, still working on that, so I feel that after time spent practicing I will get there. Can I say that yes there are other teachers giving tutorials on this tune but none come close to your absolute brilliance in getting it over to students. Thank you so much Fennah you have inspired me, I am now in my seventies and it goes to show that with the right teacher opening the right door you can teach an old dog new tricks or in my case old man. God Bless you and keep your sense of humour it makes learning so much fun. chris Hunter West Yorkshire

Apparently, I like complicated songs for a newbie….. but I wanted to say that your tutorial is THE BEST one I have watched …. Wish I had found this one 11 months ago when you posted it! I’ve been playing with capo on 4 trying to bar and stretch and I could only get to a very choppy version. This is making all the difference for me! You have a talent for communication, my friend. Very nicely done. I'm 75, do open mics for charity, and your work enables me to bring more music to more people, recreate the sounds and moods that people love, with minimal fistfight with adding new material. You nailed the sound, mood and feel without the contortionist thing. I fudge a lot and no one notices or cares, because the "feel" is what they came for. "Well played, my friend. Well played." :)

Love this lesson and the way you teach it. I love the song too, but as a beginner, it is still intimidating with the tempo and finger picking. One thing I found is that in the settings I can slow the play speed right down and helps me focus and play along on the right hand picking. Just thought I would share for other beginners who might not know 🎸

Good to see a tutorial that acknowledges that using "D" chord forms is a pain in the arse. I also think dropping the 6th string to "C" is a pain in the arse, so I choose to leave the 6th string open when placing the capo. Buckingham's voice has got deeper with age so he prefers playing and singing it in "E" or "F". I put capo on 4th fret and sing it in "E" so no need to retune the 6th string!

Rob... this is BRILLIANT!! I myself have a problem with keeping the G string note (2nd Fret relative to capo) from sounding MUTE during the INTRO!!! It's all because of playing the D string (4th Fret) note and E string (5th fret) simultaneously!!! Evidently, my excess fat ring finger keeps muting the G string note. Really pissing me off.. If you watch more recent (I call 10 years recent) VIDEOS of Lindsey Buckingham playing his own song, you will find it QUITE DIFFERENT from the original studio version. Hmmm I wonder if he's trying to avoid something also. But then again, it is HIS song! Who am I to judge ! Anyway.... THANKS for you help!! MUCH EASIER THIS WAY!!! Cheers, Dennis

Excellent video! I have got this version in a guitar magazine from 1982 (synchronicity, great minds, etc!), but your teaching style has inspired me to REALLY get this into my fingers! The picking patterns are useful for my classical technique too. One thing I would say is, regarding the high bit, that I'm playing this at the 14th fret on a classical, using fingers 3 and 4 on strings 1 and 2 for the first chord. It may not suit everyone, but many will find it ok.
