I really appreciate your channel. Very informative for us old guys. I am 73. Started playing guitar when I was 68. Started playing drums at 12 years old. Decided it was time for a change. Thanks for the instruction!

I've been playing on and off since I was 17, I'm 61 now, I've been stuck in a rut with it for years. I'd pick up my guitar and put it down again after 2 minutes. Since finding your channel Rob, I can't put the bloody thing down. I'm finding the finger picking very challenging? And wonder if it'll ever click in my mind? But I'm enjoying trying. Anyway, I'm off to play sunny afternoon again :)😂

Came on to youtube looking for a tutorial re this guys in love with you. Cheers for the lesson, very informative. Then I moved onto this video and as a newish player of advancing years I've learnt more in the last half hour than in the previous five years of surfing youtube tutorials, many thanks for that, though I've realised I do unconsciously play the open strings when moving between chords.

I think everyone is lucky to have Rob teaching Guitar Playing. When I started back in the mid 60 there was only one guy in my town that could do that, but he was in a band on tour world wide in those days. When he did get back he would show me one new chord is all, which I appreciated knowing how busy he was with music. In those days it was slow learning for anyone else as well who wanted to learn guitar, base, or the drums. So we made a few garage bands that were really bad, but it kept people from just easily giving up. Not a bad thing today either, if a person can just find one. A beginner base player or a drummer. Also wanting to learn music and get better.

Just wondering if there is anyone out there who has viewed Rob's "Practice Like a Pro" video and noticed if there was a "Transcript" button/link associated with it. I could have sworn that I saw one at one point but I can't seem to find it now. Maybe I'm wrong on that though and I saw it associated with something else. Thanks in advance.

When it comes to picking, (solos, etc) I use to hold my fingers spread out forward keeping them out of the way of the strings (kind of like making an OK sign). I was missing strings with the pick way too much. I looked at players like Tony Iommi, Carlos Santana etc and found they held their fingers curled into their palm. I tried this hand form and found I am missing way less strings. It feels more like you are choosing strings with your wrist more so than your fingers but is much more accurate,,for me anyways. I found (for me) strumming works better with fingers forward, picking fingers inward. Don't know if you have any tips on picking accuracy ?

Hello, Dear Rob! I've been keenly practicing your way of playing the G chord but I've hit a bit of a snag. If, and only IF I could trouble you, I'd very much like to ask your advice. I've been strumming various chord changes to G, and developed the habit of placing first the pinkie finger and then the ring and middle finger at the same time. Now, when I do fast fingering instead of strumming , the ring finger always arrives late to play the bass note of the G chord. Should I practice reversing the order of finger placement (ring and middle finger first, then the pinkie), or continue as before until I become fast enough? As always, thank you VERY MUCH for what you do, you're awesome. My best wishes, and a Merry Christmas for you and your family and loved ones! 🙂🙂

I introduce myself because that and my thanks are, presently, the only way I have to repay the kind hearted humanity you clearly have. My best wishes and, once again, Merry Christmas!! 🙂
