He was wrong about what water does. If your character is in water and gets the water stain, you can’t be ignited by fire while you have the water stain on your character.

Unsure if you messed this up or if it's new, but "water doesn't do anything" isn't accurate, as it protects you from fire, which is huge.

Does "unlocking" happen permanently or for that playthrough only?

it is permanent, but in order to unlock a spell you must cast it first. Edit: there are exceptions where some spells will be unlocked without casting them

Maybe I'll create a guide with spoilers in the future, but these basics can still help you get to the boss beating point. Most of the bosses can be tanked with enough resistance or shield perks, or one shot with powerful wands. One of the best thing you can do is watch wand building tutorials and trying to replicate some OP ones

The main game is you going down in the caves to beat the final boss and complete the work. However, if you don't want to complete the work just yet you can go explore the world up above to your heart's content, there's a lot of stuff on the surface and even the sky! As above so below, happy traveling alchemist!

It takes a while to really grasp what makes it fun, I would recommend DunkOrSlam's videos on full runs like this one kzbin.info/www/bejne/eqixf4GXbLmobck or wandbuilding and other specific elements. I think once you get a good understanding on how to wand build and do more than just run around and get shot by turrets, there is a ton of fun to be had.

Certain materials give you certain effects when eating (ex: worm blood makes you see in the dark) and knowing those effects might come in handy, like fungal shifting, polymorph mage meat or just perks

I learnt nothing at all on how to play the game. I dont know wtf to do in this game....u hinted u find some kind of thing in each zone and that leads to the end of teh game....great....i wander around the zone and there isn't anything to do in the zone. -_- like cmon explina how to friggin play

Go down, that's the first thing everyone does. If you can survive, you will find new things, new zones, and once you beat the game maybe you could see what else there is besides just going down
