Any inversion can be used to play anysong. Inversion helps in flexibility, moving from one chord to another that are far away from each other. They become closer if you play their inversions. However some songs may need you to play specific inversions that gives it it's characteristic. Especially sheet music where you have the inversion and voice stated, and you play according to the writer. And sometimes playing with other keyboardists, it's more melodic when you two don't play on thesame inversions, to avoid sounding themsame.
