Awesome breakdown! And it's not about needing five string, it's about wanting five - because more strings mean more groove! 😉🎸

Been playing for a little over a year and I've never heard of natural notes... but I'm stuck on the Ab/C .
@JonnyHale3 ай бұрын
@@aaronnajera784 Natural is the normal note. Let’s say the 3rd fret E string is G natural. If I say G flat, I would move down to the second fret, which is G flat (Gb). If I say G sharp, I would move up to the 4th fret, which is G sharp (G#). Natural is a fancy way to say, “Play that regular old note exactly where it belongs.” Sharp means move up one fret. Flat means move down one fret. Moving up or down 1 fret/note is called a “half step.” You'll hear some European people call it a “semitone”

There's a chord he plays at about minute 1:55 in the KZbin video. Please break that one down. Thanks.
@JonnyHale Жыл бұрын
Good ear! That is an Ebm chord. He is playing: 11 on the E string. 13 on the A string and 16 on the D string. It’s a long stretch! You can play the 11th fret of the G instead of the stretchy note on 16 if that’s easier to grab.

How can the "super cool Ebm chord in the breakdown" mentioned at the end of the video be reached by normal hands? LOL
@JonnyHale Жыл бұрын
Lol! Great question! Bar your finger across the 11th fret and play the E and G strings. If you only play those two notes it will sound good. If you want all the sauce add your ring finger on the 13th fret of the A string. Good luck!
@auburnengineer Жыл бұрын
Are those three notes picked simultaneously in the alternate method or are they plucked one after another? I can’t tell.
