How to play PS3 games on Mac (RPSC3)

Downloaded and installed according to your instructions, I have Skate 1 running damn near flawlessly without messing with any of the settings. I’m sure I can run beefier games too if I downscale the resolution a bit. Just wanted to say thanks, you’ve helped me get a lot of stuff running on my Mac over the last couple years. For anyone curious I have a MacBook Air, M1, 8gb ram running macOS 13.5

A few extra mentions: 3:31 It works fine with a 8BitDo Lite2 controller. After pairing it with your mac, in RPCS3 just select SDL and you are good to go Also some ROMs come as .pkg. To install go to File → Install Packages/Raps in RPCS3's GUI, then select the PKGs

I'm having issues with GTA IV, when the cinematic intro ends, the car falls into the water and it's impossible to go further into the game. Anyone had this and fixed it ? I'm using RPCS3 Build 0.0.31-16206 on Macbook Pro M3 Max.

when you open your folder for a game, it has several stuff inside. All I got is an iso file and a readme.txt with barely any info on it. tried opening with the app but nothing happens. What am I doing wrong?

I installed it yesterday and it is not working properly. There's purple lines all over the screen in every game I have tried. I don't know if there's a setting that I need to activate or what. I'm on M1 MacBook Pro 16GB. Ps: I did find on the internet that after the SONOMA update RPCS3 isn't performing as well on Mac and needs a specific update to work well again.

Here is the problem: The latest version is not tested on Mac. I searched the exact version that Andrew used in the video and it worked!

My games will not show up on the game selection. If I click open on a game, it will automatically open the game up, but it won't be in the game selection. How do I fix that

It’s illegal or sketchy to tell people where to get roms. Because it’s illegal to download them. What I can tell you is don’t go on google and search rom mega thread and click the first link and start downloading roms it’s illegal 😳

I'm running a Mac OS Monterey 12.7 on a mid 2015 MB Pro Quad Core Intel Core i7 Processor with 16gb Ram. I've tried practically everything I can to get my games running but it's just stuck on a Compiling PPU Modules black screen when I go to boot any game. Initially I thought this was just a compiling issue so I waited several hours (around 4) for the files to compile and boot with no success. Any suggestions on how to get my games to boot would be highly appreciated! Note, I'm running the PS2 emulator with no problems on my MB Pro so I'm assuming it has to do with the PS3 emulator settings or the OS incompatibility.

yes, the problem is that cpu is getting mauled by the emulator, especially how thermally limited these macbooks are. but it does sound like there's some other issues, you should be able to play some games. the console will probably have the error messages. google those

@@shib5267 I'm able to play psx2 without any issues. As mentioned I have a quad core intel core i7 with 16gb of RAM so CPU shouldn't really be an issue, there's definitely something else going on as I mentioned I've tried practically everything and various configuration mods etc etc. Hopefully someone who's faced the same issue will be able to help me out. Does that Mac have its own dedicated gpu with the R9 m370x? If you're running on integrated graphics that could be your issue.....

For me All games Work greatly (demons souls in 900p and 60fps ❤❤❤) with my MacBook Pro and an Intel chip… except Ico and shadow of the colossus… I don’t know why. Any solution ?

so you don’t have a m1 chip macbook? i’m so stuck, my mac pro is only an intel chip with some kinda of graphics stuff when i go to my about my mac. i get the illegal instruction error that freezes the rpcs3 app and game and i have to close it thru activity monitor. haven’t been able to get a game running yet, heard we can’t use iso files and only pkg/rap files but idk where to find those

@@Beholddog there’s some games that work that I’ve tried, ninja gaiden, all pro football 2k8, but any other halfway demanding game i tried didn’t work or had some kind of major audio or visual issue. Splinter cell, wolverine, max payne 3, metal gear 4, ufc 3.. don’t work lol. I’ve followed of Andrew’s other guides with no issues too

@@trilliam8806 try installing compatibility patches, maybe your games just aren’t emulated great on the rpcs3 generally. If your game has green compatibility than try reinstalling firmware and game updates
