The one thing that annoys me the most... Is that GW didn't continue with the alliteration naming style with the core set, but then returned to the alliteration for Briar and Bone It could have been called Fire and Flood but noooooo, had to add a P in there

We've been playing pyre tokens as a 2" radius effect. It doesn't save it from being demonstrably questionable ability to use, but nobody even bats an eye on the increased radius. Having a 4" diameter area of effect seems like a reasonable use on a warcry sized board. Considering how mid pyre tokens are. Great concept, but I think Nighthaunt deserve to have a meta defining playstyle after being so garbage for 2 editions. Especially when you consider how Soulblight forced GW to gimp the one thing (Rizzy Rez) that made Nighthaunt merely "ok" in early V2. I still like the warband and tweaking them in narrative has been interesting so far. But they are still just Nighthaunt at the end of the day.

A 2” bubble would have certainly helped. More ways to cremate would have been nice too. Why Fan The Flames doesn’t cremate is baffling. Would have freed up their triple to do something cool (perhaps trigger all pyre tokens early?). I dunno. It feels like there was an idea that was bailed on in here somewhere

​@@wargamesontoastI think you've nailed it. Being able to cremate on any ability take down would be super solid and also not terribly broken with no changes to the damage or radius. Opening that triple up to be a "burn em again" ability would be sweet I do love the quad though, even though it's only situationally decent. It's a lot of fun to send a guy off a platform like Denethor in RotK

Since the Briar queen and Knight aren't available any more (I don't think?) would you recommend using slasher crone instead? She can do all the same hero abilities? With a decent attack profile + healing. Sorry if this is a stupid question pretty new to WH and WC

The Briar Queen is sadly no longer purchasable (unless you go to EBay) but I believe the Knight Of Shrouds is still a thing they sell (I could be wrong though). The Slasher Crone would be a solid alternative though, for sure!

Correction on the quad (the displayed text is correct but the interpretation is wrong): the selected model can inly move a nunber of inches equal to the value of the ability.

It's a shame both of the teams in this box set are not the most powerful. I was splitting this box with my wife for us both to get into the game.

Get into the game anyway, it's a good time. Playing warbands casually has its own enjoyment, which is just as fun as playing competitively

They warbands aren’t the best competitively, but few boxed warbands are. If you like the visuals on offer, then this box is great. Not only that, but the mechanics themselves are fun to mess around with in a less competitive setting!

Well that's disappointing in general. I love the nighthaunt look so I'll be painting up these models, but I was really hoping for a more powerful NH crew

I hope someone finds a way to crack them, but as it stands, I think they suffer from a gimmick not fully realised
