There aren't too many trick taking games for three players, but this looks like a good one. It's not nearly as complicated as Skat or 500 but still has some scope for skill. I think I'll try it sometime.

Schafkopf is another German Card game which is best for 4 but also posible for 3 Players. Its easier to learn because you don't have this complicated bidding process . And a lot of fun.

I've played a game extremely close to this, it's was called 3 6 9 and you play with the two Joker cards and all cards are dealt out.

I don't remember very well but I think the two players have to see for themselves which player has the highest suited card, and the one with the highest suited card gives the "taking" player that card. I hope this makes sense.

Does one player playing a trump card allow the following player to play a higher trump card? For example, P1 plays a jack of spades as the leading suit. P2 doesn’t have any spades so plays a 4 of hearts, as hearts is the trump suit. Now, can P3 play a 6 of hearts to win the trick, even if they have a card in the leading suit (spades)? Or, are they required to play a spade if they have it, knowing it’ll be a throw-away card since P2 played a trump card?

If a dealer chooses a suit to trump the other cards do they have to tell the other 2 players what suit is the trump suit? And if so is there a rule to where p2 can’t use the trump card to start and win all other placed cards every time? And if you can’t tell the other players which suit trumps the others, and one player doesn’t have the right suit to follow up and doesn’t know the trump suit do they put down any suit they want?

In any gameplay it doesn't make sense not to tell the rest of the players what the trump suit is. So yes, they have to tell the other 2 players what the trump suit is.
