Watching you and Ryan has got me looking around the pawn shops for a good used Uke. It's too bad both my dad's, and his dad's, went MIA after they passed. One of my first memories of being on this planet is of my father and grandfather playing their ukuleles with a thick fog of tobacco smoke filling our living room. Ah, the good ol' days!

Ahh man that's such a special memory! If my Nan (mum's mum) had been alive today it would have been her 100th birthday but she passed over 10 years back now. When it came time for the grandkids to lay claim to a few items i got some glass baking bowls and some butter knives, think of her every time i use them in the kitchen (which is most days to be fair!) Time to get yourself a Uke amigo! They're pretty reasonably priced as instruments go :-)

I love this song, even though I'm not big on ukulele. I love the lyrics.

Awesome as always, mate. I really have to get myself another uke as they are such a fun instrument, although will definitely be getting a tenor this time as my fingers just can't play the standard size properly. Like a great many people my eyes were opened to what a versatile little instrument the ukulele can be once Eddie released his 'Ukulele Songs' album way back when. God I wish he'd drop another solo album soon, although I'd prefer it be more in the style of 'Into The Wild' with the mixture of acoustic, ukulele, mandolin etc. Thanks again, mate!

Hey Michael, thanks so much mate, really appreciate the kind comments! I love his solo stuff, i've never worked out any of the Uke tunes so it's fun learning these, glad you're enjoying them!

I flippin' LOVE this song. I've always struggled to play it on uke though, being left handed :\ retuning the strings the other way round never quite worked and playing the chords upside down is surprisingly awkward.

Such great chord progressions! Is there no such thing as a left handed Uke? i thought they were symmetrical so you could just turn upside down and restring a la Hendrix, but i may be showing my ineptitude there!

@@LetsPlayAll I believe they exist but may be uncommon. In theory yes just swapping the strings around should work but that's more work than I was willing to bother with back when I had one! Is my memory going nuts, or does Eddie actually tune his uke flat?
@LetsPlayAll4 жыл бұрын
LeftHandedGuitarist haha fair enough, I’ve been putting off restringing a couple of guitars for the past few months as I’d rather be playing so I can relate 😀 I don’t think he tunes it flat, not for the tunes I’ve done lessons for, they’re in std Uke tuning

Thanks this was awesome and so helpful and explained so well! Now to try to find a uke version of all those yesterdays...
