Thanks for the lesson; I love HUM! Fun fact about this record (and all the other HUM records): almost every single guitar part is triple-tracked, no matter how intricate the passage. The producer said he'd never seen a guitarist able to recreate a performance so exactly and both players did it. That's why HUM sounds so huge!

There are A LOT of tabs that show the bridge played differently, and no matter how much I practiced, it was never in time. I watched the 120 minutes performance of this, and it was nothing like how the tabs were written...this tutorial is played the way they play it live. To me, that is the "correct" way...the way the author plays it live. Great stuff!!

Anyone who enjoys this song and isn’t familiar with Hum’s catalog, definitely check them out. Filet Show was their first album that I’m aware of. Not my favorite as it’s early and they’re finding their sound. It’s more raw and aggressive but there are some good tracks. Electra 2000 was next and is awesome. My favorite album of theirs. You’d Prefer An Astronaut is where Stars came from so you likely know of it. Downward is Heavenward was next and I thought it was better than YPAA. Lastly, after a 22 year break(?!?!) they released Inlet in 2020. After all these years they’ve stayed true to their sound. I don’t like Inlet like Electra 2000 but there are a handful of great tracks on there. Go check them out and see what you think. Good stuff!

Nice job. That bridge riff is really something, and I do believe the first hit on Goog for the tab from Ultimate Guitar nails it. The riff is straight 16th notes and the key is the slide from 5th to 7th fret on the A as one 16th. Go check it out, you'll want to edit this vid once you get it. That riff is God-tier once nailed. Smoke one to confirm. :)

11:32 I always thought I heard a very quick double-pick of that second note on the studio version at the beginning of that run. It’s pretty fast but there sounds like there’s a little more “meat” to it than a single note.
@LetsPlayAll3 жыл бұрын
I don't hear an extra note there but they aren't tightly double tracked so it could just be the other guitar part coming in a little later than the other. Just sounds like 4 notes per beat (to my ears) :-)
@SD-unlimited3 жыл бұрын
@@LetsPlayAll That makes a lot of sense and I imagine is exactly what is going on there. I jumped over to the studio recording for a listen and can hear it pretty clearly during the section between 3:44 and 3:45. This is prompted to 3:43 - kzbin.info/www/bejne/nX6oc2d-g7ONaKs It's so fast that it likely is the two guitars being just a bit out of sync. I originally thought it was similar to what was going on at the end of 311's Transistor where you can hear the quick notes being played.
