FYI - On the Low C pan, you "enter" the pan after the B note on the outer ring, then you go to the inner circle C. Happy learning everyone! :)

Very helpful! Thank you so much! I'm confused about the keys that pan drums come in. I thought they were like harmonicas, and you had a drum in a particular key, which is why people play with several drums, but this sounds like while they may come in low or high tunings (and I've heard of C's and D's), you can play any scale. So, what are the advantages of say a low or high, and D vs C? If it helps direct my question, I play guitar in various open tunings, D being the most often. I've got native American (Indian) flutes that I've purchased in D, and the two go very well together. So I'm thinking D, but then, most of the pan steel stuff I'm familiar with ends up being Jimmy Buffet, which I'm guessing would be a C of some sort? What to do?

Hey Bob The confusion comes from the different types of pans they are. A Jumbie Jam Steelpan only has the notes of either a C or G major scale, wheras a C or D tenor pan will have all 12 notes of the chromatic scale in the pan. You can tell the difference by the size of the pan - Jumbie Jam Steelpans tend to have shorter skirts. Hope this helps!

I'm watching these vids in order and they're short, there's no need to do a review.
