The original cards are dealt face up, then the video shows them all face down. When are all the old cards flipped face down?

I’m guessing after the first gift has been “gifted” to someone, but you’re right it doesn’t show

When we play we flip the original gift to it's back side once that player draws their first new card. That player has to gift the original item they had (not the new one they just drew)

When someone accepts one of the original gifts, they're turned face down.

That part messed up the entire video. Seems like an important step and yet it is completely ignored in the explanation. I watch these videos to check if a game is good for kids or not but in this case that confussion will make me pass on it.

Yes, the draw pile consists of both kinds of cards.
