As someone who played DnD a handful of times like 7 years ago. I had fun then but couldn’t find people to play with for a while. Then all the stuff WotC have done have kind of irked me. So, instead of trying to jump into DnD again. I’ve been looking for something else. I’ve spent quite of a bit money in this endeavor. Got tons of stuff for pathfinder, the necessary ones for Call of Cthulhu, and was looking into Matthew Mercer’s Daggerheart. I’ve had on my shelf for a long time now, several of Brandon’s books. Never read them because I was going through others. Now that I’m aware of this ROG. It feels like a good time to read them, and get back into TTRPGs.

Never read Sanderson (just bought a used copy of 1st Mistborn book, it's on my TBR) but as a D&D 5e DM this feels familiar but different enough that my games and players wont fall into the usual tropes. I like having a plot die and the notion that you can "multicalss" easily and without detriment to the character's power.

Great video. The tabletop play examples look good - nice clean cuts and camera perspectives, clean and uncomplicated examples of the different skill tests... and the bluish-purple cloud background of the main explanation sequence, the clouds look good and varied, and lighted well. I might get flamed for this, but it seems a lot was borrowed from edge of the empire. Especially the opportunity and complication system. Not saying it’s a bad thing it was just a pain as a GM coming up with good/bad scenarios on the spot. Players love it tho

@@josephfernandez8015 AMEN! So tired of people being super weird about his religion. Quite a few of the best scifi/fantasy authors of all time come from that community. And since it's like a sub-sub-SUB class of Christianity, people feel that they can complain about it. But you never hear them bitching about Christian authors. I get it if their religion clearly effects their writing but, man, it just doesnt in this case. At least no more than any of his other life expereinces and if you don't like that a writers experience effect their writing well..... I just don't know what to tell you anymore, lol.

Shame you didn't go over the mechanics where you're required to "kill off" a PC within 6 sessions and make them sit there for weeks before revealing they weren't dead (which everyone knew). Or the rule that, as GM, you're only allowed to have one LGBT(definitely no QIA+) character, and when you introduce them you take a five-minute bow. Or where you're required to heavily reference a campaign you ran 10 years ago that no one present played in, and introduce a character who was an important NPC you really liked in that campaign and establish how much more powerful they are than the PCs and how much more they know that the PCs can't even imagine. Or how, any time a character has an important story beat you're meant to turn to the most depressed character and ask them to describe how much their life sucks for the rest of the session. Also, all campaigns are required to run for at least 900 sessions, with each session lasting at least 5 hours.
