Haven't played it yet, but since i really enjoy having choices and thinking a lot about the decks i build, i would perhaps like it if instead of 6 rares, players had around 6 points or something (not even gonna try to balance it out in this comment). And each rare you want to add to the deck costs 1 point, and for every rarity above rare, it costs an extra point. So that if you really want to add a legendary to the deck, you can, but it will cost you a lot and you won't have other rarer cards.

I'm not a huge fan, TBH. I tried building decks in Commoner and it felt so limited. Obviously, that'll change with time as the card pool grows. But for now, I'd rather play with Commons and Rares ("Regal" format?).

I think playing with a limited amount of rares is really awkward. Having a limited common pool is a problem that fixes itself with time.

We have been playing commoner at our local hobby store. I perceive that everyone is enjoying themselves. I really enjoy this format being on a limited budget

I am satisfied. Love that you included example decks. One thing I wish you'd have done was linked to the channel fireball videos somewhere. If they're in the description, I didn't see it. When description boxes get busy like that, I don't even bother. Just my perspective. I had to do some searching for the videos on CFB, and honestly, I never use the website. It's kinda hard to navigate and it's ugly. A direct link would give a lot more follow through clicks. (I'm headed over now to check out those decks!)

@@DMArmada Awesome! I feel like it hurts your growth if you don’t. Especially something so easy. Also I just put together that kavdaen deck and I’m so stoked to play with it. Had to order some 2 cru cards, but I had everything else. Surprisingly, cru is all I’m missing in terms of commons. Great video and totally worth the wait!

My LGS uses the Channelfireball version where we can use up to 6 rares, this helps some of the heroes to be more viable but unfortunately that makes Briar really good in the format with Plunder Run.

Yeah, plunder run makes a lot of decks really scary so that one might be worth banning

I love how looking at your Dash deck and thinking about the Dash deck I played this week it’s looks different even though we are limited to commons. It goes to show how much room for creativity there still is in this format. I can still think of Dash decks that would be different then both our decks. Adding rare’s could make it more like pauper in MTG, because there you can play uncommon and commons. I see rare’s in FAB more liken to mtg uncommons.

That's a good point! I know some people were discussing the idea of a "Noblemen" format where you run Commons and rares.

I heard of that and I think that is best of the both worlds. Even if it’s a limited rare environment. I just thought of something were everyone starts with all commons then the next week everyone gets four rare’s, then the next week you add two more rare’s and so on. Every week the decks get power ups.

I know this is old, but Pauper in MTG only allows cards that have been printed at common. Now if something gets downshifted after a reprint from Rare or Uncommon to Common then you can use it (regardless of printing).

Seems like a nice easy cheap way to learn/play the game. Also good way of trying a new class without getting bogged down in hunting the needed, expensive cards. Don't "feel" the class, no worries because you havnt shelled out £££ on a couple of majestic/legendary cards.

I like using the 6 rare variant, because it adds a bit of tension to the deck building process. It's adds a certain feeling of meaningful decision making to the process. Like in Rhinar. With Barraging Beatdown barraging big horn, breakneck Battery and Pulping all taking up the same slot. You have to give up the ability to use one to use another. Do I run all 6 Beatdowns and don't use any of my big go again attacks? Do I slot in the go again but lose out on one of the best cards on my decks? With Levia, Soul Harvest is one of your best blues, do do you give up a power card for a more reliable banish consistentcy? I like these kinda of decisions in the deck buildong process.

Rare heroes seems fine, but 6 rarea and rare equipment just seems antithetical.
