Awesome Mike!! We used to play this tune with my band...I might try to record both drums and guitar for this one. What level do you think is required to play this intro? on a 1 to 8 scale.
@MikeBarnesDrums3 жыл бұрын
Cheers man! Nice one - bass drum speed for those quads is probably the limiting factor! So Grade 4 or 5 I'd say :)

Love ya vids! Loved the lesson. Was super good. I watched a video of Matt Sorum playing this live and he doesn’t hit a constant floor Tom though. Just a minor detail I noticed cos I’m obsessed with this song at the moment! 😬 - Josh

This is the video I saw of him. Notice he plays just 3 hits on the floor Tom during the second part? kzbin.info/www/bejne/rJjMkGpnf7uegpo

@@TheEditSuite Cool, yeah seen that a few times - he also orchestrates the opening lick slightly differently around the kit. Just goes to show for me it's the principles that makes this work, rather than the finer details of orchestration. But of course, feel free to play it just like he does here. Thanks for watching and paying attention! Appreciated.

You might have to keep practicing until it ztops being fun, but you'd be surlrised what you can force your body to do. The first time I heard the drums on Sepultura "Territory" it was like hearing a foreign language. Still not fully mastered and have to improvise here and there, but can respectfully do it justice. I struggle with the 32'nd note hi-hats on Mr. Brownstone. Some people are born with the gift and some are not, but practice and committed effort can make up for a lot.
